Electro-Harmonix (EHX) Screaming Bird Treble Boost guitar effects pedal - I bought this used effects pedal a week ago at a local reuse shop (secondhand goods store) here in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. It was pretty cheap for an EHX USA pedal. I bought it for ¥3,300 (about $33). On used guitar gear websites such a Reverb, the going price is much higher: $90-100. I spent a lot of time with this effects pedal. As a treble Boost it is intended to increase (boost) the volume of the higher tones (treble). However, with that boost also comes a lot of outside electrical interference (noise). I tried it out with different power sources, different guitars and basses with different pickups, different amplifiers, with other effects pedals, and with different cables. Never know until you try, right? I came to to conclusion that it does do what it's meant to do: boost the treble (high frequencies), but - to avoid the noise - it works best with electric guitars with humbucker pickups (not single coil pick-ups), using either a 9 volt battery or a newer power supply (not a daisy chain, etc.), and in front of (or prior to) other high gain effects (such as overdrive and distortion pedals) with the exception of fuzz, which should be placed before this treble boost. Please I understand that I am simply expressing my own personal opinion regarding this particular EHX USA Screaming Bird Treble Boost. Others will likely have their own opinions, which is fine. More power to each and every one of you. Most importantly, rock on and make more music!
