I love your fanfic, so top 5 characters you love to write and why.

This is a good one. This is a thinky-thoughts one and I tried. But they’re not necessarily in order, okay?

1. Nicole Haught, Wynonna Earp. I feel like I slipped into writing Nicole’s character really easily, if that makes sense. There’s something about the (admittedly, limited) narrative choices they made on the show that just make her so fascinating. I can’t put a finger on what it is, exactly, but I feel at home writing Nicole.

2. Trini, Power Rangers. Small, angry, misunderstood baby lgbt youth? Sign me the fuck up. We had exactly 108 seconds of background on her but that’s what’s so great, you know? You can shape her up to be anything, really. There’s something appealing about that. I’ve seen her written a few different ways and I tried to shape her out in a kind of mesh of those ways. Power Rangers is also just, like, super fun to write and she feels the safest, in terms of a focal point of the fics.

3. Beca Mitchel, Pitch Perfect. Again with the small angry people. I am, myself, a small angry person. She’s got such a voice and I work really hard to emulate that in my fics. Not sure I always do it well, but I have a fuckton of fun writing it. Plus, man, the music. I’ll work music into anything, any time, and it’s just so easy here.

4. Wynonna Earp, Wynonna Earp. Honestly, I can just get away with saying things I would never, ever say out loud.

5. Santana Lopez, Glee. I just was super into Glee. I said it. Most people on this hell site don’t know that. That was the LiveJournal life. All Glee all the time. And Santana was my favorite character. (Again, right? Angry.) She was figuring herself out in real time and I was expressing myself in real time, in the real world. I got to do a lot of that through writing her. I haven’t even picked up that hat in over 5 years, but she’s still got a soft spot in my heart.

I’ve accepted there’s no coming back from what flozmin has done to me. I’ve seen a little Juliantina and it’s super cute but like the stars aligned and some ancient lesbian prophecies came true with flozmin.

I didn’t realize the person I followed on tumblr was the one writing the amazing Flozmin fanfics in English! I absolutely love how you write their sexytimes! Like it isn’t Flor being a pillow princess or Jaz being super aggressive - it’s balanced and lovely and their thirst is so on point. You’re exceptional! Noise Complaint was hilarious and so is the most recent one. Never ever stop, por favor.

Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoy them because I enjoy writing them. I also, for some reason, can’t stop writing smut for them so I think that is just going to continue. I am working on another one right now that I am hoping is up by the end of Friday. But thank you for those lovely comments and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

So well stated! Also, how the hell does Viole nail the same questioning look in four different scenes? Well, until it slides into pure thirst in the fourth gif.

I love that the way she looks at Jaz changes. Viole is fucking amazing! Her acting is so subtle and so well thought I just- She knows Flor so well and the way she can convey so much through her eyes is amazing. Jaz’s confession made something click in Flor and it’s only natural that Flor started to see Jaz in a “different” way because of it. It’s all in her eyes, she sees Jaz in a “maybe we could be something” way. From that moment she starts to see Jaz as a possibility and she starts to realize what she really wants and who she really loves. And yes! I love how Flor looks at Jaz in the fourth gif, it’s an “I want to know what it’s like to kiss her” look and it’s just perfect! It’s always the same questioning look but at the same time there’s something more to it every time...

Both, Viole and Juli, were so good with the looks it was glorious to watch. And this is something I will always love about Flozmin, both Jaz and Flor say so much through their eyes that you don’t need words to understand what they’re thinking or feeling when they look at each other.

Here’s the thing. I’m a carefree girl scrolling stress free through my dash and then your flozmin gifsets and flozmin asks and flozmin analyses pop up and I’m curled up on the floor breathing heavy. Will you let me live? Will you let me be a functioning adult?

ahahha okay listen, I should be a functioning adult too but I miss flozmin so much and there are just a lot of things to talk about, to analyse and to gif that I don’t think I’ll stop anytime soon! <3

I read your post about relating to geeli puchi and hard same. I know Priya is oblivious to all that Bharti goes through (and in a way both ladies’ agency has been diminished by caste/patriarchy/social conditioning).

After watching it twice, I keep wondering about the redemptive power of love. Had the storyline gone in a different direction, do you think Priya could become less oblivious (“unlearn her conditioning”) because of her love for Bharti? And if so, what effort would that take?

I mean, I guess!! I could definitely see the story going in different ways, and one would definitely be Priya “unlearn(ing) her conditioning” as you said, and learning to be more cognisant of the bias that Bharti is subjected to. The redemption that love brings...that’s a very romantic notion for sure, but I feel it would have been an incredibly different movie with incredibly different take away (not bad in anyway, but kind of overdone—it would shift the focus to Priya rather than Bharti, which is a more common point of view).

I really really think this particular story isn’t about the redemptive power of love, and rather about how love isn’t always enough in a society where so much of dignity is denied, and it really doesn’t need to be. I do think the movie we got is the story that had to be shown at the end of the day, but alternate endings are fun to explore too, and there could have been a valuable takeaway from a story about Priya unlearning her conditioned prejudices as well.
