Treelogy

While walking towards the V&A, something curious caught my attention in front of South Kensington station: treelogy. 

The installation, by Bartlett School of Architecture, is made out of three (tree) pieces, each carrying a different tale from London's past. The trees (which in british culture represent the celebration of an achievement) were installed for the Olympics. 

The patterns covering all four sides of each piace and growing out of the top like branches, represent London and UK's greatest landmarks.

Looking at it I have the feeling that the installation could have been better executed; yet I do really like the idea of reminding londoners and tourists, of London's secret and forgotten history. The patterns and the idea behind using the shape of a tree also work really well. As a Londoner, going home from South Kensington station, you will love your city a little more and you will be a little more curious about it. As a tourist, going back to your country, you will feel a little more "Londoner".
