What I’m getting is that at first, they had negative intentions. They thought that you would just be a distraction, something to play with and nothing more. They had no intention of making anything out of you two talking. But, they did change their mind as you talked, although they never said anything out of fear it’s too late, they still enjoyed talking with you. They still would like to if it’s not too late but are unsure of how to say so. It takes effort from both sides to continue this relationship, whether it would be friendship or more.
