So I started up DR:UB and I got to what I'm assuming is the terms and conditions, a username select screen, and info about the game. I make a username(i think) and it takes me to this. I selected Togami and then pressed no and it took me to a scrolling wall of text. I couldn't read any of it so I just sat through it. After that, the game loaded and after a bit, it was still on the same loading screen (2/52) and I haven't seen anything you've posted.

HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF, omg im so glad someone agrees with me, how exciting. i love ishimaru but he's obviously not straight, but hes ALSO obviously not GAY. like... i dont get where it comes from? i feel like, its explicitly stated romance makes him uncomfortable, implied sexual stuff makes him cry, he does neither around mondo or anyone else. thats his confirmed canon reactions to those situations. he obvs doesnt feel that way?? u feel me? idk where it comes from. this is probs unwarranted BUTidc

I personally think he’s straight (or at least it was the writer’s intention to make him so), though I could easily see that he’s ace like you said (it’s a matter of opinion anyway and fighting over it is incredibly stupid so I’m not gonna go nuts over it and I finally got that whole mess off my back earlier so I don’t wanna start it back up again). But yeah, he’s definitely not gay. He’s just really socially awkward and has really old-fashioned ways of thinking. And no matter what, his sexuality isn’t what his character is about. No one in Dangan Ronpa has their sexuality be crucial to their character. And the fact that people go on about how he HAS to be gay and writes essay after essay on it are missing the point with him imo. I don’t get it either. Like yeah, he’s really close with Mondo but that doesn’t equal gay. Ishimaru’s character means a lot more then his bond with Mondo, platonic or otherwise. And it just really bothers me to see him be reduced to that. I guess it’s mostly because, like a lot of things in Dangan Ronpa, his character and values are steeped in Japanese culture and society so a lot of Western fans don’t look into it or get it very well. So saying that he’s gay is a total misunderstanding of his character and junk. I’m probably ranting at this point but w/e/

And don’t worry this isn’t unwarranted at all! I don’t mind talking about these things at all! Especially because like I didn’t think you were gonna message me so it’s really amazing and gaaaah.

I FEEL LIKE IM TAKING TO A CELEBRITY W WOW im sorry i just really admire you and your stuff and your views on things like you actually take the time to critically analyze DR and you don't pander just because you like the character or because it's the expected thing to do in the fandom. keep doing you, that is just so admirable. and plus, courage count is exactly one (1) brave act per month so I had to cash that end before February ended. BUT THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH AN EASY GOING PERSON TOO.
