I've really liked your TLG posts and find myself agreeing with you more often than not. I'm just curious as to your opinion on a Kylo Ren redemption. Personally it's not something I'd like to see although I guess if done right it could be cool. Once again love your take on what was a really enjoyable movie. Keep up the great work.
Hey thank you! That’s really lovely to hear!
I would rather Kylo Ren isn’t redeemed. I feel as though his is a character who can’t be reasoned with. Vader may have been “the most hated man in the galaxy” as Rey called him, but Luke was able to see the moral conflict within him.
Rey tried to see the good in Kylo in The Last Jedi but even given the chance to turn, Kylo rejected her perspective of him and aggressively pursued his own agenda. If we were meant to suspect any good was still in him during the film, by its end we know he’s irredeemable. Rey closes the doors of the Falcon on his vision at the film’s end (a great bit of symbolism there) and I think that wonderfully shows her also realising that he can’t be saved.
