Inktober 2021 Prompt no.15 - “Helmet” 🛡
Very nostalgic tribute piece to the British gameshow ‘Knightmare’. Think of it like a live-action D&D, with three dungeon masters and one blindfolded player.

Inktober 2021 Prompt no.15 - “Helmet” 🛡
Very nostalgic tribute piece to the British gameshow ‘Knightmare’. Think of it like a live-action D&D, with three dungeon masters and one blindfolded player.
Ooooh, nasty.
Treguard: “It was the first room! It was supposed to be an anagram!” Lord Fear “Yeah, I tore up all the anagrams, put in a Fright Knight. I’m feeling a bit killy.” Spent yesterday evening at Knightmare Live, aka THE GREATEST THING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD AND THE TRIBUTE MY CHILDHOOD DESERVED. Okay, so, if you’re my age, and grew up in Britain, and your parents let you watch CITV, a formative part of your childhood was watching the Lawful Neutral at best good guys send blindfolded children to their horrible CGI deaths for such crimes as poor spelling and not knowing left from right.* It was like an RPG, on the tellybox, with then-cutting-edge*** special effects. Mention it and people will shout things like “YOU’RE IN A ROOM!” and “sidestep to your left!” and “enter, stranger!” and “spellcasting!” We all really, really wanted to be on it. Even more than we wanted to be on the Crystal Maze. I told people I was going to Knightmare Live and they all went “what, like, ‘sidestep to your left’? OH MY GOD.” And now some absolute heroes have resurrected it as a stage show. My face hurt from laughing. It’s just the perfect amount of affection, acknowledgement of the early-nineties crapness, and crashing headfirst through the fourth wall. (”This isn’t FunHouse! We’re not gonna put you in a ball pool and give you some Scalextric!”) Treguard and Lord Fear have this perfect frenemies Aziraphale-and-Crowley kind of dynamic. We were on a noble quest for enlightenment and Wagon Wheels! We killed five dungeoneers! One of them turned evil and got a cheat code spell from Lord Fear and still died! This dude was in the audience. He is our hero. *Frankly, I think it’s responsible for the popularity of the entire Saw franchise. It awakened an appetite for seeing random strangers dismembered for minor infractions, and got cancelled** before it could be sated. **You were upset by Farscape, Firefly and SGU? Were you young and innocent when Knightmare got cancelled? WERE YOU? *** HAHAHAHA pun intended oh god who else was seriously traumatised by the Corridor of Blades?

LOOK, LOOK, LOOK, LOOK IT'S KNIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knightmare remake hits Geek Week
We brought you news of this a couple of weeks ago and it's now finally here! As part of YouTube's 'Geek Week', here is the remake of the classic 80s/90s kid's show- 'Knightmare!'
Treguard's back with a cast of kooky supporting characters, but the random kids have been replaced by YouTube stars including Dan Is Not On Fire, Amazing Phil, Emma Blackery and Stuart Ashens which adds a little comedy to the show. The only thing that bugs us is that half of the aforementioned stars were barely 2 years old when the show was originally aired!
Oh well, we won't rant about that much, because it's quite a fun nostalgia trip for us OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE WATCHED IT WHEN IT WAS ORIGINALLY ON!!!... Sorry, I got carried away there.
Anyway, have a watch and then check out some of the other goodness YouTube is bringing forth during 'Geek Week', and why not check out the G.E.E.K-iest channel on YouTube while you're at it www.youtube.com/GdotEdotEdotK
