These pictures feature famous comedian, actor, writer and Native Trentonian Ernie Kovacs. This son of a Hungarian immigrant graduated from Trenton Central High School and eventually started his first work at the local WTTM radio station in Trenton. In 2019, the New Jersey State Museum honored Kovacs through "The Ernie Kovac Centennial: 1919 - 2019".

Today’s spotlight features the Trenton Baseball Team from 1909. The sport of baseball traces all the way back to the 1860’s in the city, with its first recorded game between the Trenton Atlantics and the Athletics from Philadelphia in 1867. As the pastime began to gain popularity across the nation in the early 20th century, Trenton followed suit. Not only were Trentonians playing the sport competitively, but they also created different leagues and teams based on their trade (Pottery, Roebling Wire, etc.) Today, Trentonians and visitors from across New Jersey come to the city to watch the Trenton Thunder minor league baseball team at the Arm & Hammer Park.

Allegheny Airlines

The Allegheny Airlines company was originally founded as a mail company by the Du Pont family. The Airline quickly grew, and by the 1950’s it was transporting American citizens across the country by expanding its fleet. Featured in this photo are unidentified subjects, stepping off a flight that (plausibly) landed at the Trenton-Mercer Airport. The Trentonian newspaper they are holding features a front-page article regarding the indictment of Adnan Menderes (9th Prime Minister of Turkey) which took place in 1960.

The Trenton family that became superrich overnight upon winning last year's $429.6 million Powerball jackpot has long wanted to uplift the city well before Pearlie Smith bought the winning lotto tickets. "We were always dreaming and putting things together in helping the community," Valerie Arthur, one of Smith's seven children, told The Trentonian on Saturday. "We already had the vision, we just ran with it." The family in May 2016 founded the nonprofit Smith Family Foundation days after Pearlie Smith bought the winning lottery tickets from a local 7-Eleven convenience store off Chambers Street.
