PosterSpy, in conjunction with Dave, is hosting a create a Red Dwarf season XII poster contest. Due to time constraints, I didn’t have much time to devote to this enticing project, but “not much time” isn’t the same as no time whatsoever, and smeg me if I didn’t submit something. Update: Apparently, my submission is too similar to an alternative poster which is a violation of the contest terms. (Despite the fact that it doesn’t employ any actual imagery from what I’m parodying - oh well, their rules, not mine.) Upon further clarification, I was told (via email correspondence) the main violation of the terms (and I quote), “There are also terms that state you can’t use photographic imagery in your entry. Granted, there are some on the site but they will not be counted, they were just very early entries so were not taken down.”. Fair enough. I’m not going to push the issue. If I’m not eligible, I’m not eligible. But I did point out that PosterSpy’s decision to include a high-res image gallery of show stills under the contest header and next to the submitted entries tab was misleading, as was failing to be consistent with their policing of entries. Anyhoo.. since they’ve deemed my link ineligible, I’ve removed their suggested promotional hashtag from this post.
