SS Spoilers:
Angeline was scared and pissed, but mostly guilty. She had let down Jill. She was supposed to protect her with everything she had and she had failed.
"Angel," said Trey tentatively from behind her. She ignored him and continued to look up at the stars, as if the answer to where Jill was, was splattered across the sky.
"Angeline," this time the voice came from Eddie. Hearing his heartbroken voice along with the guilt churning in her gut, she exploded.
She turned around swiftly causing both boys to take a step back.
"We're going to find her," said Trey with determination.
She ignored him and instead focused on Eddie's face, which was pale with stress and his eyes were bloodshot from crying. Angeline's guilt intensified.
"How can you even stand to look at me?" she cried in frustration. "It's my fault that Jill's kidnapped. I was in the same room when it happened and I didn't even know!"
By this point, the tears she had kept at bay flowed freely down her face. Eddie took a step forward and caught her hand, holding it entwined with his.
"Stop blaming yourself. It's as much your fault as it is mine's. But having a guilt contest isn't going to bring her back."
He sounded sincere and when Angeline looked at Trey's worn out face, seeing the spark of determination in his eyes, she knew that they didn't blame her and were right there by her side.
"Okay," she said, steeling herself. "What's the plan?"
"There's my fierce girl," said Trey with a smile. She smiled back slightly and then let it drop as she listened attentively to Eddie's plan. It was a damn good one, and also the only one they had.
Better than nothing.
