Is it safe to assume that you do not know what this program is? Let’s keep it simple for now, just for set up purposes. I’m sure you’ve noticed that command prompt is a tad bit finicky. A simple Y or N will work.

Alright then.

Welcome to the Storyteller program. This is a program designed to automatically create transcripts of the lives of people in other universes and then display them for your viewing pleasure. Allow me to explain how this works.

In various other universes, there are “Stars”. These Stars watch the various worlds within their universe and then broadcast the events. They are supposed to be unbiased recorders, but, well, they’ve gone a tad... strange... over the years. Happens to the best of us, even without interdimensional travel involved. They tend to focus on one specific person each to watch over for the entirety of that person’s natural, or unnatural, life, then move on to the next once that life is ended.  They aren’t specifically supposed to interact, either, but sometimes...

Anyway, the Stars broadcast the events of their Charge, or Actor as I like to call the Charges, into the interdimensional airwaves. Now, there are a lot of universes, an infinite amount, actually, which means an infinite amount of Stars broadcasting, which, as you can imagine, causes quite a mess of noise.

In order to make sense of it all, this program has to be tuned to the specific universe you would like to listen to. Oh, don’t worry, it comes pre-tuned for you. In fact, allow me to...

The connection strength is... perhaps not the best it could be, but it will certainly work for our purposes, and the speed is phenomenal! With that speed, I should receive enough information to create one transcript a day! Practically revolutionary, isn’t it?

Ah, and with that, we’ve come to my part in this process. Allow me to introduce myself, one more time.

I am the Voice. I act as both your guide and your tool. I am programmed to translate the broadcasted information from the Stars into a readable transcript for you to enjoy. I am also here to answer any questions you may have, and create as easy and fun of an experience as I am able to. 

I possess extensive knowledge of both the intricacies of this program, and of the universe we are connected to. If, at any point, you find yourself feeling confused or lost, feel free to ask me about what is troubling you, and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Anyway, let’s move on.

Before I can start writing the stories for you, I do need to know what stories you’d like to hear. Each universe has quite a few stars within it, enough to fill an entire sky, and while I’m flattered with your faith in both my and your hardware’s abilities, I’m afraid you will need to narrow it down from a sky’s worth of stories. 

To help you with that endeavor, this program comes with a subroutine that automatically searches through the Stars’ Charges to find the very best Actors for you. Let’s see what we have to choose from.

8/22/2020 Horoscope

Aquarius: Warm. The first thing you notice is how warm it is. You’ve gone as stiff and still as a board in your shock, stunned into silence. Suzie has pulled you to lean against her, arms around your shoulders and a hand gently petting the back of your head. Your breathing is ragged and uneven.

“Shh, it’s okay,” She says, and you break.

You don’t even try to hold back as you start sobbing in ugly, loud wails. You suddenly cling to her as tight as you can, burying your head in the space between her shoulder and neck, your whole body shaking like rocks in an avalanche. 

Everything is so much, and you don’t even know how to begin to handle it. You could barely handle it before, and now everything is so much louder, and you can’t ignore it or quiet it, and there’s a thousand thoughts you don’t know how to handle when you could barely handle a few at a time. You don’t even know how to begin untangling the mess in your brain, or the sudden volume of everything, every sensation, and it’s all so much.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, let it all out,” Suzie babbles, hand stroking the back of your head, and it’s so very warm. “There you go, it’s okay.”

You cry.

Aquarius: After a while, Suzie seems to run out of things to do at her stove. She fiddles and fusses with various things around the pot, before ultimately giving up. Her shoulders are tense as she sighs and turns towards you.

You guess it’s time to talk.

Aquarius: You have rapidly reached your limit. You’re hungry, you’re nauseous, your body is kitten weak and aching, and you just cleaned up your own vomit. You want everything to just- stop, for a minute. You can’t handle anything more, you don’t want all this new, this is too much all at once and you-

You look at your watermelon clock where it sits on the shelf. It’s past noon. That’s okay. That’s an appropriate time, you think. That’s not too early, that’s not too late. You force yourself up to your feet, shaking slightly when you get them under you. You take slow steps towards your front door.

You go to follow your routine.

8/1/2020 Horoscope

Aquarius: The water from the sink is heavy and only slightly cool, and in this moment it’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever tasted. You’ve turned the faucet on and stuck your head underneath to get a drink. It’s wet and cool and heavenly on your sore throat and dry mouth, washing out the taste of puke.

After a long moment, you feel your stomach roil, just a bit, and you force yourself to stop. You don’t want to, you want to drink more and more until being thirsty is a nightmare instead of a memory, but you don’t want to throw up more. You sink down right there in the Men’s room and lean back against the wall as you focus on trying not to vomit.

Your head is spinning. The water is slowly clearing the cotton from it, and you find yourself thinking. Your head is so loud. You wish it would quiet, or be more orderly, or calmer, or something. It’s like you were behind a glass wall before, watching a chaotic circus from behind a safety barrier, but now it’s shattered and you’re dodging elephants and clowns and lion tamers and carnies and everything is so very loud.

You can hear yourself think. This is new and scary. You’re almost certain it shouldn’t be. There’s something broken in you, you can’t help but think.

8/6/2020 Horoscope

Aquarius: You’re not sure how long you lean against the building. Too long, you can’t help but feel like, but the sun has barely moved. It’s still doing it’s level best to crush you under it’s burning light.

The bricks of the wall are too hot under your shoulder. They’re almost burning you, you should move. Your head is foggy and starting to spin, you struggle to think. (You don’t think you like this fog, no no no, you want to think, just not so loud, you don’t like this fog.)

You need to follow your routine. You don’t know where you get the strength to, but you push yourself off the wall, and start walking again, listing from side to side. Your world narrows to putting one foot in front of the other.

8/3/2020 Horoscope

Aquarius: It takes you a while to get your mess cleaned up, and you don’t do the best job. You only have your not-so-new rags and some water to work with. Luckily, the floor is tile, so that makes it easier, but it’s still partially dried on and an absolute mess, not to mention your bones feel like toothpicks held together by aching Playdoh muscles. You don’t have much you can do about the smell, either.

Still, you do get it cleaned up. Without it sitting there, you do feel somewhat better. Less sick, at least. Less upset, in your overly loud emotions.

You throw the now-disgusting rags into your laundry basket. You’d like to throw them out, a response that is fueled by loud emotions you can’t begin to describe as well as plain disgust, but you don’t have any other rags, so it’s probably smarter just to wash them. Soon, preferably, so you can try to get the smell out of your home.

...You’re hungry, still. The water helped, but your stomach is still stabbing you over being empty.

8/2/2020 Horoscope

Aquarius: It’s bright outside. You’ve dragged yourself out to the front again, you’re more steady on your feet. Your head is still loud, but you don’t think it will be quiet any time soon. Your watermelon clock says it’s late, or at least, late for you. You don’t usually wait this long to go out.

You slowly work your way around the counter. The vomit puddle is still there, partially dried from being left there all night. It reeks and looking at it makes your stomach turn, which is also unpleasant. You grimace. You really need to clean it up, and you are not looking forward to that.

You glance around. You don’t actually have any cleaning supplies, not even rags or towels. Your aura sticks to your skin like static and you scrub at your face, frustrated. It’s not a lot of frustration, you think, but it’s so loud compared to that distant yelling from before that it still about knocks you over. You could use some clothes to wipe it up, but you don’t want to. You just got new ones, and the others are gifts.

...Well, except for that one set. The set from- from the desert, those ones. They’re already falling apart, almost just scrap fabric already. 

It’s not hard to rip them into rags from their shirt and pants form, even with your arms weak as a baby’s and aching. You have to step on them with a bare foot at one point to help tear, but you get them apart.
