Ladies and gentlemen: Trial, the biggest jerk in the universe. This is a short oneshot of Trial’s past.

Trial!Sans = Created by leftover energy from the multiple Resets that occurred in all the AUs. Bits of code and energy manifested into a sentient being, which originally had no physical form and was instead a shapeless blob. Soon, the new creature became curious by the activity just outside of its reach, and began to spy a bit around its space in the code. It observed as a skeleton crossed an empty white plane, and as it looked around upon feeling observed. Clearly unnerved, the skeleton left. The new creature wanted to have a physical form, too, and imitated the physical form of the skeleton, thus becoming a 'Sans'. 

-Once his physical self was created, he was able to leave his home in the code and wander about the AUs. -Soon, he began to get curious about interacting with the other sentient beings around him, and began to try to discover excuses to do so. -He eventually came to an idea - he would create 'trials' for any sentient creature that hungered for more knowledge or power than what their universe could offer. -Due to coming directly from the code, he could grant certain 'gifts' for each creature that passed his trials. -He could even 'Reset' certain people's lives; however, he could not grant them their physical body, and could only bring back their SOUL. -He could grant some people extra 'powers', which he generally stole from another person to give to the person who wanted it. -He's actually quite confused by emotions and the like due to basically being born from nothing; he is easily confused. -He's not very friendly, either; he is quite mischievous and sometimes twists people's wishes into something they did not really want. -Whenever someone tries to attack him with the intent to kill, all that happens is that he loses his physical form, and will become the shapeless blob until he recovers.

-He does different trials depending on the person/monster who requests it; if it's a person who doesn't like to talk to other people, the trial would be to talk to a thousand people within two days. -Sometimes he does other types of trials, such as written tests, obstacle courses, and sometimes even something similar to an all-out-brawl. -He is not very well-known, and is often seen creeping around other sentient beings in order to gain an understanding of what is normal. -He is very blunt and often makes remarks that can be seen as rude without him knowing that it is rude.

-He is made from pure code and energy, and can technically be any shape he wishes, but keeps his 'sans' form because it is the first form he ever created. -He can traverse the multiverse with ease due to being an 'outlier' being. -He doesn't have a heart-shaped SOUL; it's in the shape of a spade.

-He doesn't get emotions, motivations, or companionship at all; he feels confused most of the time. -Not very powerful magic or physically-wise; he can conjure stuff up out of the code, such as extra energy for monsters who want more power and can 'bring back' SOULs - but his powers aren't 'total'. He doesn't know how to fight and is unable to summon Gaster Blasters like most Sans.
