Every sister needs a band of women to encourage her to do things she’s never done before, to feel pride when she’s taken a chance, to learn from the experience and be better than she was before. @nikkibeharie is a beast in her desire to make new work. @mslauragomez is ever-positive and will show up for just about any kind of art a friend makes. @ginayashere makes unparalleled wit looks easy on stage, and takes no excuse when there’s work to be done. On any given day, these women are in the process of creating work that challenges the narrow confines of what has been prescribed for those of us tagged women, or of-color, at birth.
