Thick too thin to round to lean to

All sizes in between.

  I am an admirer of your curls. 

Lustrous brown locs of heritage, 

adorned with the spirit of your ancestry. 

Kinky fros, fitting fades, silky straight. 

All styles in between.

  I am an admirer of your strength.

Overcoming adversities, displaying you’re might.

Long lean legs of chocolate walk your

spirit round this world. You carry it on your 

shoulders. Even in your weakest moments, 

All the instances in between.

  I am an admirer of your courage.

Raising kids without fathers, instilling values into

this culture. Our culture. Negro culture

creating from scratch our future stars, 

and presidents. Our doctors & lawyers.

All the leaders in between.

   I am an admirer of your knowledge.

Student to teacher to student again.

Poet, literary genius, 

photographer, intellect, journalist. 

You attend the HBCUs of this country

& breathe life into each with your achievements. 

Evoke pride in the past;

evoke faith in the future, and 

All the generations in between.

Words passed down from big mama & pawpaw, 

from aunties & uncles. Stories that set the tone for

our success as youth.
