Note: This is a one shot fanfic of my oc Sione and Akello that I forgot to post here! It was fun to get into Siones head and feelings about the situation they're in and I'm honestly super excited to dive more into their dynamic!
Warnings: Spoilers for Akellos route in chapter 6.
Summary: Akello and Sione have a rare moment together after everything they've been through, a slow morning.
The events of everything that had happened yesterday had crept up on both of them honestly. The adrenaline, or the equivalent of it in Akello's case, had crashed hard after they were finally able to settle down that night. Vigorous it was, it left both parties exhausted physically and mentally. Sione doesn't remember when she passed out but sleep soon grasped her at some point but she stirs in her sleep soon after hours later.
It's a struggle to open her eyes for a moment, the light shining in through the windows begins to peek out and it's a momentary discomfort before she turns her gaze away. That's when she feels it. Strong arms wrapped around her, the stubbles of facial hair against her neck and the steady breaths of an all too familiar man. Sione tenderly intertwines her hand into his absent mindedly, staring at his palm in hers as she recalls last night's events.
The fight with Raath.. The destruction left in the aftermath.. And Akellos..
Her mood dampens at the memory. Sione can't help but feel hurt at his hesitation. She knows she can't rush it, trust her she knows it all too well. However after everything they've gone through together with Raath, Akello's son, finally getting some real answers on where her daughter could be, it feels like their bond had grown since that first meeting in that small Book Dudes shop months ago.
Maybe when he wants to say it, he wants to mean it? But why not then? Maybe he wasn't in the right mindset to say it? Afterall, he did technically eat a few demons so the rush of that must've clouded his judgement at the time. She's not too sure. It seems like the most logical explanation, so why doesn't she feel comforted by that fact? A pit in her stomach starts to grow. She hasn't felt this connected to someone in a very long time, if ever, she knows her feelings towards Akello are genuine but she doesn't know if Akello holds her in that same regard..
Sione is pulled away from her rushing thoughts when she feels Akello's hands return that gentle grip against hers. Another hand protectively bringing her in closer by the waist, as he nuzzles into the crook of her neck.
"G'morning, Baby.." She feels Akello mumble into her skin, sleep still not entirely shaken off him yet. "Morning.." Sione whispers back, her voice not completely there. For a few minutes, they just lay there. The silence is peaceful, only the sound of their breaths ring out. After a moment, she feels him shift behind her a little. As if hesitating if he should, or wants, to move from this comfy position. She leans in closer to him, her other free hand resting atop of his arm around her waist.
A subtle plea for him to stay.
And to Sione's relief, he does. It doesn't take much convincing, poor man desperately needs the rest anyways. Plus, she's a tempting pillow, Akello will give her that.
"Five more minutes..." She mumbles out, the drowsiness of morning catching up to her now. "Mmm.." Akello manages before continuing. "10 minutes..." A laugh escapes Sione at that. "Fine, 10.." She feels his smile against her neck, and for a split second she's able to forget her drowning thoughts from earlier.
She doesn't know where they stand relationship wise, hell, if he even wants one with what's going on. Sione wouldn't blame him if he'd rather put it off until the dust has settled and been done with. But.. She does know that they both want each other in their lives. That they care about each other deeply. And for Sione, she's willing to work with that.
