Crow walked through the dark city streets, where the primary source of visibility came from the flickering lamplight and the occasional half-shining star in the night sky. Still, even that light was too much for her at this moment- so she pulled up her hood, burying herself further in her oversized jacket. She preferred to blend into the shadows the best she could, especially on these sorts of jobs.

She hated robbing places. Unlike with pick pocketing or snooping, there were so many extra factors to consider. She knew the streets like the back of her hand, but a store was another person’s territory. And she hated being out of her element. It meant she was vulnerable, and that was something she tried to avoid at all costs.

Finally she found her destination, hidden in one of the alleys. She couldn’t read the sign, but the general shape of it and the location of it matched the picture perfectly.

Standing in front of the door, she took one last look at one of the photographs she was given- this one of a book. That was her target for tonight, and she couldn’t wait to be done with all of this.

Still- a magic store? What, did this client really want to learn card tricks that badly? He had certainly been willing to pay quite a bit for it. This ‘magic book’.

Pulling her hood down she smoothed out her hopelessly messy black hair. She was a mess, but hopefully that wouldn’t get her kicked out immediately upon entering. It did in some places, but surely some magic trick shop wouldn’t be as strict?

Adjusting the grip on her cane, she opened the door and walked inside.
