Mikan’s Alternate Execution
I think most Danganronpa fans can agree that Mikan’s execution was… not great, to say the least. Like, you’re dealing with a literal nurse (to which the possibilities for horror are practically endless) and that’s all you could come up with??? Really gross fanservice??? I could go on and on about how fucked up the sexualization of some of DR’s cast is, but I digress.
So here’s how I’d rewrite it:
Mikan’s Despair Disease is cured at the last second, rendering her confused, scared, and horrified at what’s about to happen and what she’d just done. Then, she’s transported to a room and injected with some sort of poison which has an antidote hidden somewhere nearby. The catch is, it’s also in shot form, and when the lights go on Mikan is suddenly surrounded by dozens and dozens of unlabeled needles. Panicking, she rapidly tries them all, leading to an excruciating montage of perpetual trial and error. Needles protruding from her body, she weakly drags herself towards the final shot… and promptly collapses dead before she’s able to grab it.
I can imagine I’m not the first to reinvent Mikan’s demise, so if my idea comes across as similar to someone else’s that was 100% not my intention.
