I think most Danganronpa fans can agree that Mikan’s execution was… not great, to say the least. Like, you’re dealing with a literal nurse (to which the possibilities for horror are practically endless) and that’s all you could come up with??? Really gross fanservice??? I could go on and on about how fucked up the sexualization of some of DR’s cast is, but I digress.
So here’s how I’d rewrite it:
Mikan’s Despair Disease is cured at the last second, rendering her confused, scared, and horrified at what’s about to happen and what she’d just done. Then, she’s transported to a room and injected with some sort of poison which has an antidote hidden somewhere nearby. The catch is, it’s also in shot form, and when the lights go on Mikan is suddenly surrounded by dozens and dozens of unlabeled needles. Panicking, she rapidly tries them all, leading to an excruciating montage of perpetual trial and error. Needles protruding from her body, she weakly drags herself towards the final shot… and promptly collapses dead before she’s able to grab it.
I can imagine I’m not the first to reinvent Mikan’s demise, so if my idea comes across as similar to someone else’s that was 100% not my intention.
Denmark: Very nervous, probably holding back tears and squeezing Norway’s hand to distract himself. When he gets stuck with the needle, he yelps a bit. Afterwards, he clings on to Norway, and Nor smothers him with kisses.
Norway: Quiet, looks spaced-out but is a little skittish. The only sign that he’s in pain is when he stiffens a little. His arm feels numb after the injection and he winces every time he has to flex it.
Sweden: Completely deadpan, and sits absolutely still while getting the injection. If it hurts a lot, he will let out a single, completely monotone, “ow.” He’s a bit scared of injections, but he keeps a brave face on for the kids.
Finland: 201% unaffected. He can get an injection while doing his taxes and lecturing the kids at the same time, he will not feel it. But just for fun, he likes putting pretty bandages over the small wound.
Iceland: He listens to music to distract himself. He shifts around a lot and usually talks to Norway or Denmark while doing so. When he gets stuck with the needle, he stiffens, like Norway and mutters, quietly, “ow, fuck.”
Heyyy yaaa! I was wondering if you could please do a mob!tom where his girl is about to give birth in the bathtub in their bathroom and then everyone gets scared because they're seeing him crying for the first time when he notices that y/n is losing her strenght and it's getting hard for her to push then she says "i don't think i'll get to bring our little girl to this world, tom" and then this is what makes him cry?
Okay, so below are just hardcore birth warnings. There's blood and all so tread lightly if this triggers you.
Four more requests. REQUESTS ARE CLOSED.
Tom couldn't tell if the screaming was you, or in his mind if he was being completely honest. He was on overdrive for the second hour now, not being able to leave you as you worked through contraction after contraction. Your hair was stuck down with sweat and pained, scared tears rolled down your cheek as you gave pushes to hold off your contractions but to no avail.
He hated seeing you in pain and he knew there was nothing he could do about it. Your little babymoon far from the mainland proved it almost impossible for him to fetch a doctor. But he rushed around the bathroom and you begged him not to leave you. You cried and his heart broke. He couldn't bring himself to leave you. Until you said those words.
"Tom... I don't think I can bring our baby girl into the world." He swore his heart stopped. He couldn't let either of you die. He couldn't.
"Don't say that love. Here... I'm gonna get Harrison to stay with you so I can get some stuff to deliver her-"
"Tom don't leave me." You sob. He leans in to kiss your hair,
"I will be right back okay. I will be right back, I promise." He hurries off, practically shoving Harrison into the room with you who rushes over and holds your hand, distracting you from Tom's absence. He can feel the tears in his eyes as he leads four or five men through the house like a chicken with his head cut off. He gathered towels and sponges and washcloths into a bucket, throwing some waters and granola bars in for you. His brain was fuzzy and his men kept looking to each other as he muttered incoherently, sniffling and swiping his nose. He turns once he's standing at the foot of your bed, his men standing straight as they see the tears in his eyes. His shoulders shake as he sobs,
"What am I gonna do? If- if she can't do this... if she can't deliver and I lose one of them how am I to live with myself? How- how am I to choose between them or- or say I love her and that she's gonna be okay when she isn't?" His nose is running and neither he or the boys are sure if its tears or his snot, but they don't care. None of them care. Clay, a redheaded man Tom has come to respect for his honesty steps forward, placing his hand on Tom's shoulder,
"Its okay boss, it's okay. I have an idea. My sister... when she delivered my niece... she had this same problem and they cut her uhh... her perineum or whatever the fuck. It's so if the baby gets stuck there's a wider opening to the birth canal. We... boss, we got this. Your wife, your daughter... they're gonna be okay because we're right here." He stares up at Clay for a moment before he nods and he hears you cry out. The six of them run off, bursting into the bathroom again where Harrison is holding your hand, coaxing you through a push. Tom can see the pain and exhaustion in your face. He hurries forward,
"One of you call a doctor. I want a doctor here as soon as possible. The rest of you, spread the towels out. Get one ready for the baby."
"Tom-"
"I know darling. We're gonna uhm... we're gonna try something okay. Clay's sister had her perineum cut... to help the baby come out. Do you wanna try that? Its gonna hurt love but-"
"Do it... I can't do this on my own." He nods before pulling his knife from the crook of his back, reaching down below the water line, and gently slitting the flesh just below your vaginal opening. Harrison rubs your shoulders with one hand, your hand held in the other as you cry out. Tom tosses his knife aside, turning to Clay,
"Okay... I need someone to find sutures too. I have to sew her up as soon as Rosie's here. They should be under the sink." Henry hurries to find them and Jack, another man of Tom's starts to walk towards the door. Clay grabs his arm,
"Where are you going?" They share a look before Jack looks back at you,
"If this is the exact same thing as your sister... and Y/N is going through shoulder dystocia, Rosie might come out not breathing. We have to be completely prepared for that. I'm gonna go get the little kit they have in the nursery. The bulb syringe and all. I'll be right back." Jack leaves the room as Tom slips his hand back into the water,
"Give me a few good pushes baby. You've got this." He coos. You hold both of Harrison's hands, squeezing as you give the first push, body exhausted and in pain, but you're managing. Tom coaxes you through it, feeling the baby's head nudge his fingers as Rosie finally starts to come through the birth canal. You try again, Tom praising you through it as you push and don't let up until the baby dislodges even further. One more, crucial push, and Tom pulls little Rosie from the water, severing her umbilical cord and setting her on a towel offered up to him by Clay. He cradles her close, rubbing her tiny back as Tom helps finish you off so you can hold your little one,
"Come on Rosie... you've got it. Be a good, strong girl. Come on." He rubs her and pats her back, trying to get her to let out that first cry. Jack returns, turning the water in the sink on and holding her head as he leans in to stick the bulb syringe in her nose. Clay continues to rub her back as Jack uses the syringe, trying to get her to breathe, cry, do something, anything.
"Clay-" You're cut off by a loud, shrill scream from the little one in his hands, both men letting out a sigh of relief. Tom glances over his shoulder at them, heart pounding in his ears. He let's the plug in the bathtub out, letting the bloody water drain. Turning the water on again, he let's it run as he sews you up. You're numb and all you want is to hold your baby which Clay can sense. He brings her over, laying her, still clad in a towel in your arms. You can't even pay attention to Tom and the needle, insistent in your most sensitive area. Rosie is beautiful beyond belief, same bright, brown eyes as her father. You smile down at her, tears making your eyes blurry. You sniffle,
"Hi my little Rosie Nicole. You are absolutely stunning." Tom rinses his hands in the clear water, setting the needle aside and coming to crouch beside you. He stares down at your daughter, still whining and half crying. He's flabbergasted that you made something so perfect and his tongue is tied at the sight of her. He places his hand over her tiny torso, tears coming to his own eyes. He leans in and kisses your temple,
"We did it. You did it angel. You brought our baby girl into this world. You're amazing." You smile up at him, tears slipping down your cheeks. All the pain not only in birth, but throughout the pregnancy. All the hormones and stupid little fights. All the crying and not fitting in clothes and keeping the pregnancy under wraps. It was all worth it, sitting here with your baby girl, your husband right by your side. Holding your head to his water dampened shirt, kissing the top of your head,
"You did amazing baby." Kissing her tiny face, you relax into Tom's touch, Harrison leaning in to kiss the top of your head, moving away from the three of you to give you some space. Corralling the other men in the room, pushing them towards the door before Tom speaks up,
"Boys," the five men in the room turn to look your way, Tom swallowing and nodding, "thank you. I would've lost my mind if it wasn't for you guys. So thank you." You lean back against him as his men nod, silently wishing him congratulations before they exit. Tom leans down into you, kissing your temple again and laying his hand over Rosie who continues to whimper. He sighs, nerves and anxieties dissipating the longer he stares at her,
"Welcome to the world my little Rosie. Hadn't even made it in yet and you were already giving your daddy problems." Smiling, you take hold of his hand, squeezing and holding Rosie close to your chest, smile etched into your tired face.
Hey guys! So, a little PSA about something that's very important and can save lives - blood donation.
I've been a blood donor since I was 17 (the minimum age to sign up in the UK); my mother was a blood donor for years, and I always felt that it was an important cause. When I donated in May of this year, my grandmother was in hospital having a couple of blood transfusions because her haemoglobin levels were low, and since then I've vowed that I will definitely be doing this regularly.
It's a topic I feel very strongly about, so below the cut I've made a post about blood donation as a whole, including the uses of donated blood and the process. (there are no pictures below the cut)
Why give blood?
It saves lives - people need blood transfusions after accidents, or if they have a lifelong/long-term illness such as cancer.
According to the blood.co.uk website, over 6000 blood donations are needed a day to treat patients across England.
Approx. 200,000 new donors are needed a year because some donors are no longer eligible.
Most people between the ages of 17 and 65 are eligible to donate.
Around half the current donors are over 45 - which is why the NHS need younger people to register.
How blood is used:
To treat medical conditions such as anaemia, blood disorders and cancer
In surgery such as emergency surgery and cardiac surgery
A small percentage is used to treat blood loss during child birth
To labs for experiments that might aid in learning about blood/developing cures
For people who are dying/to improve quality of end of life
Who can donate
Minimum age in the UK is 17 to register.
If you're fit and healthy
(A/N: I'm on the larger side and I'm still perfectly able to donate :D)
If you're a first timer, then the maximum age is 65 (70 if you already donate or have done so in the last two years)
Most people, really!
Before Donation
When you're registered on the blood donor site, you can book an appointment online at a venue and time that suits you. They'll have a list of venues and the days where they will be doing donations, and you can cancel at any time/reschedule.
After you book online, the NHS blood people will send a letter confirming your appointment day/time - attached will be a Health Questionnaire that you MUST bring with you, filled in, to the appointment. It asks questions to make sure that you're eligible/safe to donate (eg. Have you been tested for Hepatitis C? Have you had a piercing/tattoo in the last 12 weeks? etc.)
All you have to do is fill it in and bring it to the appointment.
Don't worry if the answer to some questions is "Yes" (eg. "Have you been outside of the UK in the last few months" or "Are you on any medication?") - they'll just ask for more information/clarification at the screening.
You can sometimes get walk-in appointments but you could be waiting for a long time for a space to open up.
Before your appointment, PLEASE do eat regular meals/drink non-alcoholic fluids and get plenty of rest.
Donation Process
I speak from my own experience - I donate at a church near my old school, so I'm sure it might differ depending on the place slightly.
You give in your questionnaire/form to someone, who will tick your name so they know you've arrived. They'll take your form to give to another nurse, and they'll give you a leaflet that you have to read; it's just information about the process, where your blood goes, and the after-effects.
A nurse will take your form, call your name, and you go for a private health screening behind a curtain or similar for privacy. They'll ask you to confirm your name, address and date of birth to be sure it's you before going over your questionnaire. If it's all good, they'll have you read the consent thing and sign it.
Next the nurse will prick your finger to get a drop of blood, and then she'll put the drop of blood into a beaker/tube of iodine liquid stuff. This is just to check that your haemoglobin levels are high enough to donate. If they are, then the blood should sink - if it doesn't, then they ask for a sample from your arm. If it turns out that your levels are low, then - for health/safety reasons - you can't donate.
(They also put an anti-septic wipe on your finger and ask you to push down to stop any bleeding)
If your haemo levels are high enough, the nurse sends you to the water dispenser and tells you to drink a pint of water before you donate. It's important you remain hydrated, so please do drink as much as you can.
At some point, usually a few minutes after, another nurse will come over and call your name; they'll ask which arm is your donation arm (I'm right-handed so I use my left for donation) and bring you to one of the reclining chairs (they recline you). Again, you tell them your name/address/date of birth so they know it's you, and then they'll put a cuff on your arm; they'll tighten it and ask you to make fists so that they can find a vein. Once they find a vein, they'll swab the whole area to clean it and make sure they've got the vein ready.
That's when they put the needle in, and my advice is don't look when they do put it in. I hate needles, so I always look away when it's in.
The nurses will make sure you're comfortable (if you're not then do tell them) and advise you to do little muscle exercises in your chair as you donate - like clenching your fists/butt, crossing/uncrossing legs etc. just to keep the blood pumping.
A full blood donation is 470ml (just under a pint) and will take somewhere between 5 to 15 minutes usually.
Once you're done, the nurses will remove the needle, put a plaster/bandage over it and tell you to put pressure on it with 3 fingers, just to help the blood clot/stop bleeding.
They'll slowly put the chair up in an upright positon and make sure you're okay.
THE BEST PART: Once this is all over, you go over to a little table where you can help yourself to juice/tea/water and crisps/biscuits/chocolate. Honestly, just go ahead and stuff your face - you've earned it.
After Donation
Your arm may have a bruise - that's normal - and it may ache a bit...totally normal.
Don't do any heavy-lifting/strenuous activity with your arm.
They advise you to leave the plaster/bandage on for 6 hours, just as a precaution.
Don't get drunk in the 24 hours after - you'll be more susceptible to a hangover.
I think the rule is you have to wait 12 weeks between donations for men, and 16 weeks for women. They'll usually book you in for your next appointment after you've donated.

I feel very passionate about blood donation, as you can see. The NHS is ALWAYS looking for blood donors, especially O- blood donors as O- blood can go to ANYONE (I'm O+) Only 3% of the U.K. donates blood, which is appalling.
I understand needle-phobia - I too hate needles and feel like fainting when I think of them - but the amount of lives it saves is worth it.
If anyone has any questions/queries, please feel free to hit up my ask-box! :)
So am I. The doctor i had was great. I didnt want to be unconscious just because it freaks me out but he numbed me up so well that i didnt feel a thing! He was also cool with my nervous muttering. Trigger warning for this but its a funny story.

So when he went to numb me, he instructed me that id feel a hard pinch and pressure to which im okay with. He does it, i wince. And after he pulled away, i said "okay yeah. Didnt like that one." And he laughed. I tend to just mutter my thoughts so like if something happens thats not good, ill just say it.
Below will be a vivid nightmare bordering something worse; a recollection from December. A horrible memory from my kin that may be triggering for some.
24 December, Friday, 2021, 1:00 AM.
It had been a late evening and I had finally grown tired around eleven in the evening, deciding to then retire for the night. Though it had only been two hours since I had fallen asleep, it only felt like minutes when I had jolted awake. Fear had consumed both mind and body as my chest tightened to a point I could not breathe. Phantoms of memories past haunted me as I was pinned in place, nearly unable to pull myself from the dream.
He had been torn from my side and shoved onto a rickety chair with unnecessary brute force. Through his struggle to escape, he had ultimately been subdued by rope and quieted by filthy rags. I was held back from attempting to reach for him. I was weak. Helpless. I knew what was to come. A dirt-stained hand found it’s way around my jaws as the other hand kept my head still and locked; I was forced to watch the torture they made Ciel suffer. Despite the thrashing he could muster, they had still managed to tear his shirt open and removed one of his arms. A trio descended upon him like wolves; two to keep him from moving and one to inject unknown drugs into him. It wasn’t the first time they had filled us with that substance, but it was nonetheless painful. The way the syringe shone under the singular bright lighting was foreboding as it found itself pressed against flesh.
My face was stained with the tears I could not control. I ran my voice hoarse screaming at the masked cult members to let him go until my own mouth had been gagged. It was enough to make me choke… My vision blurry, I could still see Ciel fighting with every ounce of energy he had until his body had slowly given in to the dose in his system. I was frightened. I knew I was next and yet all I could hear ringing in my ears were the voices frustrations of our fight and evil laughter as they dragged me against my will to that same decrepit chair.
