— ✿ It had been god knows how long since Varian died. Catalina just toned it from her mind. It was a day she will never forget, no matter how hard she tried. Her best friend was gone. Everything just felt boring without him. Some days, she’d visit Quirin to check up on him.
Have a few chats before going to Varian’s lab. There was one day, where she thought about making something to bring him back. But she knew, it wasn’t possible. If she wasn’t in Old Corona, she would be at his grave or crying in the tree house. No one questioned why the ginger always had his goggles. It was the only thing to remember him and keep him close.
Everyday, she hated herself. If she was with him, she could have protected him. Kept him safe. What kind of friend was she?! She felt angry, sad, nothing, so many emotions always went through her mind. Sitting in the tree house, she stared at his goggles in her hand. Cat held them close as she cried. “It should have been me...”

— ⚡ After Cassandra had been buried, Kiera wasn’t the same. She spent most of her time by her grave, or visiting Fidella. But mostly crying. Not even that long ago Cass became her mom, and just like that she was gone. No matter how many times the others tried to make her feel better, she didn’t want it. Nothing would heal the pain.
Some days, she would forget and be excited to see her mother. But the sad reality would hit her. Some days, she would stay away from the castle and Corona, due to everything reminding her of Cassandra. At times, Kiera wanted to run away, but knowing it would do any good.
After spending some time with Fidella, she was starting to feel a little better. Knowing the horse was as tough as her mom. Having someone that was once hers, helped. Maybe, being around things that reminded the kid of her mom was just what she needed. Of course, she didn’t want to forget her.
No matter how much pain she was in, she had to start being happy. Her mom would want her to be. “I’ll start being happy again, mom. I gotta be tough like you were. I love you.”

— ✿ The ginger had seen Quirin talking with Rapunzel. Being curious, she decided to eavesdrop. Hearing those words had made her heart stop. Varian was...dead? She didn’t notice the tears that had began to fall down her face. Coming from the hiding spot, she looked up at the man. “Where is he? Let me see him” she begged. Before he could finish the word Hospital, Catalina was gone.
She was out of breath by the time she reached where they held his body. It was no lie. There he was lying pale. Placing a hand on his cheek, all she felt was coldness. “I’m sorry Var. If I had been with you, I could have protected you...” Sliding to the floor, the girl buried her face in her knees and cried.
Anonymous said: may I ask what triggers the girls' PTSD?
For Catalina, it would be fire. Big fires actually. Anything bigger than a simple bonfire can trigger her PTSD, due to her parent dying in a fire.
Kiera would be blood. A simple scratch, small cuts or nose bleed won’t trigger her, massive will. This is due to witnessing her parents being killed when they hid her in a closet.
novumsomnium said: He blames himself for what happened to the two girls. He couldn't leave them behind when everyone else ran off to take Corona back (one of them was even a werewolf), but he should've stayed by their sides the entire time. Lance places a blue blossom on each of the small graves; it's a daily routine now, even if it had happened a month ago, but he promised that when it was over, when their home was saved, he was going to adopt them. At least with graves in the backyard, they were never far away.
— ✿ Catalina slowly walked through the castle, searching for the others. A trail of blood followed behind her as she held her hand over her abdomen. “Rapunzel...” she spoke as she saw the blonde. Right there she collapsed into her arms, “some rogues...attacked me and Kiera. She’s okay, but...”
Removing her hand, she revealed a deep slash across her abdomen. Blood had drenched her shirt. “I feel cold...I’m scared...” The ginger held onto her friend tight, “...I’m sorry...we should have came to you guys...” Her eyes closed as her arm slowly went limp. A small tear fell from her eye as she died in the princess’ arms.

— ⚡ Kiera had heard from the Captain. He was crying so it was hard to hear what he said, but she managed to hear. Her eyes widened and she ran off to the castle.A joke. The Captain must be pulling a joke on her. But this seemed too dark to be a simple joke. Once inside, the kid ran to Rapunzel, frantically asking for her mom. The blonde had brought her over to a room, Cassandra’s room.
Inside, on the bed was her. Cassandra. Her mom. Running over, she hugged her tight. But she felt cold, her skin was pale. “Mom! Mom wake up. MOM!” She didn’t wake up. Kiera broke down crying, as the princess held her for comfort.
So here’s my headcanon on the girls’ parents. The Baron killed them. But for me, Angry’s parents worked for the Baron when Angry was very young, and were killed. Cat’s parents owed the Baron money but could not pay in time and were also killed. In fear of him, the girls ran away and eventually met and teamed up.
Angry barely remembers what her mother looks like and Catalina’s memory of her parents are a fuzz. Since they both lost their parents at a young age, they faintly remember what a parent’s love feels like. They felt fatherly vibes from Eugene and Lance, hence why they feel closer to them.
