Heyyy I made some serious Trigun art for once ! I wanted to make some posters for some of my favorite episodes and even though I didn't make it in time for the twins bdays + July Incident I wanted to start off with Lost July.
Ngl I low-key wanna turn this into a print but idk if it would get nearly as much demand as it would take to warrant going through all that.... might just print it out just for myself.
Anyway I'm gonna yap about some of my feelings about Lost July below:
Episode 5 (Hard Puncher) was when I felt like I was really going to like this show, but this is the episode that made me go "This show is gonna stick with me forever, isn't it?"
Elizabeth is so awesome, she's smart and she's beautiful and she's so human, and despite trying to kill Vash, a character we know is nothing but kind and good, she gets afforded genuine empathy from both the viewers and Vash. Something I really love about Trigun is that from the start they show so many different kinds of women and they all get to have so much character and agency.
This episode really shines for showing the crushing empathy and guilt Vash holds for other people. Despite spending the majority of the episode being ridiculous and letting a pretty girl treat him like a dog (based), it makes that moment where the truth comes to light so much more impactful.
I also feel like this episode is the perfect example of 98 Vash being a simp done right. I lot of the time in other episodes it can come off pretty creepy and not very fitting of someone who preaches love and equality for all to be treating women that way but this episode is a great example of it being funny, cute, and respectful. I really love the concept of 98 Vash being a simp an extension of his love for people and I wish there were more instances like this.
Anyway peak episode for giving us puppyboy vash cool women and some great backstory
