#TrillerTuesday Tip of the Week: Change the angle

Happy Tuesday! Want to learn how to make better, more professional looking music videos? We’ve got one simple tip that will dramatically improve your videos: 

Change the angle!

Because triller allows you to do multiple different recordings or takes, you can really get creative. Think about the music videos you see by your favorite artists. There are usually multiple different angles to the video that make it interesting. For example, check out the new ‘work’ video by Rihanna. Even though the scene is the same, the angle of her in the club changes. First they show her getting out of a car from behind, then they switch to showing her from the front, and then to the side. 

Adding different angles is a very easy way to create a more professional looking video. A couple of different angle ideas include: 

-straight forward

-phone on the ground with you leaning over it

-phone propped on something (wall, shelve) to capture the side of your face

-holding the phone above your head so you are looking up at it

#TrillerTuesday Tip of the Week: Add Movement

Lipsyincing to a song with triller looks great, but one of the pros of having mulitple takes is you can get really creative in your videos. Our tip of the week this Tuesday is to add movement to at least one of the takes. 

For example, you could do take 1 (the first recorded video) lip syncing while in your room or with friends. Then, for the next take, grab the phone and walk with it or spin around in a circle-- add some sort of movement. You could dance or jump around! This is the perfect time to test out the slow and fast motion to accentuate the movement aspect even more! (Scroll back a couple, there is a Triller Tuesday Tip that teaches you how to use these slow and fast features).

Here is a fun list of ways to add movement to your video: 

-walking holding the phone

-dance

-spin in a circle with the phone

-film a friend walking towards you as they lipsync

-walk down the stairs

-spin in an office chair

#TrillerTuesday Tip of the week: Nuclear filters are out now!

Just like last Tuesday’s tip of the week, this one will show you how to access cool filters to create incredible videos, except this time there are NEW filters. The “Nuclear” filter pack was just released and is exploding with color. Try them out today! Here’s how: 

1. After you pick the song you would like to make a video to and select the length of your video, you will arrive at a screen that looks like the one below. 

2. When you get to the screen above, tap the 4 rectangles on the left and it will take you to see the different filters. 

3. On the bottom of the screen, the “classic” filters are highlighted in pink. To choose nuclear filters, tap the grey rectangle that says “Nuclear”.

4. Select your nuclear filter by tapping on the screen and then begin recording your take! You can mix and match takes done with all different nuclear filters or just do one take with a nuclear and one take with a classic. The opportunities are endless!

#TrillerTuesday Tip of the week: Use Color Filters

1. After you pick your song, trim it to the length you want and arrive at the screen below, look for the symbol with 4 rectangles that is labeled “Soo Yun, Classic”.

2. Tap on the 4 rectangles and it will take you to the filters selection screen below. The filters pictured below are part of the “Classic” filter pack. 

3. To view the colored filters, tap the button in gray that says “Colors”. 

4. Tap on the color filter you would like to use and begin to film your take! 

Make sure that you choose a filter  BEFORE you start to film, because you cannot edit them after. You can double the effects by choosing a filter and changing the speed (check out the last #trillerTuesday post for tips on slow and fast motion). It is also fun to do multiple takes using a different filter for each one!

#TrillerTuesday Tip of the Week: Slow and Fast Motion

Add motion to your videos by using the slow and fast features in our app. Here’s how!

1. Pick your song, select the length and section, and arrive at the screen below. 

2. Tap the box with the word ‘normal’ to change the speed of the clip you are about to record to either ‘fast’ or ‘slow’.

3. Record your take! Don’t get fooled… recording a ‘fast’ motion take will slow the music down and recording a ‘slow’ motion take will speed up the music. Don’t worry… it’s working right. (**If you are curious why see footnote)

You can do a take in ‘fast’ motion and one in ‘slow’ motion and mix them together, or you can do them all in fast or slow, etc. there are so many options! Check out this example below:

**In order to make things look like they are moving in fast motion, you have to capture twice as much footage and speed it up. This means you have to shoot 30 seconds of video for what ends up being a 15 second take. The opposite is true for slow motion, you must capture half as much footage and slow it down. So you need 7.5 seconds of film for a 15 second take.

#TrillerTuesday Tip of the Week : Switch between square and wide capture

Did you know that you can film videos in both square capture mode and wide capture mode? Here’s how: 

1. After you pick your song, trim it to the right length, and end up on the film screen, you can change what view you want to film in by pressing the square outlined in yellow that says “square”.

2. If you press square, it will switch to wide mode. You will need to turn your phone sideways before you begin filming. 

3. To switch back to square capture, press the button highlighted in yellow in the photo below that says “wide”. 

Once you choose square or wide capture, all of your Takes will be filmed in that mode, so choose wisely! Take a look at the videos below to see the difference:

#TrillerTuesday Tip of the Week: Trim Your Song

Triller is a tool that can be used for shorter fun videos to upload to your social media accounts (have you checked out @trillervids​ on Instagram? The #triller is blowing up with sick short videos) BUT did you know that you can also make longer full length music videos? Or even super short mini videos for vine? Our Triller Tuesday Tip of the week teaches you how to Trim a song so that you can make it just the right length before recording your video. Follow the steps below.

1. Download the Triller App ( you can do that here if you don’t have it triller.co/drop) 

2. Click one of the little plus signs. This plus sign means add a project. Once you click it, the screen will change to the song selection screen below. 

3. Pick your favorite song from the featured section, your own itunes library ( see the gray tab in the top right) or search for music. You can preview the music by pressing the play button on the left corner of each gray box. To select a song, tap the middle of the square with the album art. 

4. Now you are at the Trim Screen that looks like the image below. 

5. The trim screen is always set to 12 seconds, BUT you can change, or trim, the song you have chosen to make your video longer or shorter. See those yellow arrows? Drag the small blue or pink dot to change where your recording will start and finish. You can get the exact lyrics you want, and the exact length you want. 

Our featured songs can only be 30 seconds long, but if you choose from your own library you can make a video to the entire 2-3 minute song if you want! (There have been a couple of experts who have figured this out and already posted real length music videos to youtube! Subscribe to us on Youtube here.)
