I have a final I was supposed to be studying for all weekend. Instead, I watched season two in its entirety and play clips of Simon/Kieren all weekend. I’m so fucked and I’m not even sorry.

I def missed it the first time I played ME3. IIRC, she's only there if you talk to Liara on the Presidium, then go back after a mission but before Priority: Citadel II. You can then guilt trip Liara into going to talk to her, and eavesdrop on their conversations.

I loved that. I'm so sick of people with psychological traumas being portrayed as emotional cripples. It's not a positive message to send about trauma--that it is all-encompassing and insurmountable. PTSD does not work that way.

Might the dropping of the shield be less about macho bullshit and more about honor? A guy like Steve will have been raised with a minimum of macho bullshit (he wouldn’t have had the stamina during most of his formative years).

I think maybe it was a little bit of both. I mean, the guy calls him out: are you more than just a shield, so I don't think we can get away from him doing it to prove himself. Honor, in this case, is mostly another way of saying "I can also beat you in a fair fight."
