What is a driver hack?
This is actually answered on the About page, but the short form is that when I mention ‘driver hack’, it means convincing the game to run at a resolution my monitor didn’t support.
Generally for me in the past, this has involved adding custom resolutions to the video driver. You can do something sort of like it now natively in both Nvidia’s 3D settings (Dynamic Super Resolution) and AMD’s (Virtual Super Resolution), though you will generally get a very nice downsampled 1080p image instead of an actual 4k image. And alas, while that 1080p form makes for a lovely screenshot, I usually am actually trying to get the high resolution so that I can crop something out of the shot. So I still often have to resort to my older methods.
