New direction to take
Today Kris came to Sami and me with a brilliant idea. What if we could help the deaf? We could design an interactive screen that uses sign language, that could allow people with hearing disabilities to communicate in their most comfortable way - with gestures. We could use the screen to promote learning of sign languages and overall increase awareness about this topic.
The screen could have different modes for various activities.
Taking a different direction?
Taking our initial idea of making an interactive screen, we are trying to evolve it into something more impactful. Sami, Kris, and I are consulting with our teachers and researching different approaches. I hope that soon we'll have more clarity.
Idea pitch
What's our idea?
After days of research and discussions, we finally decided on our concept - a visually interactive board. The project will be centered around the viewer and designed to bring people together. Picture this - a screen placed in a public space. The screen would display a question with two possible answers. The viewer would be prompted to answer using a hand gesture. The idea is that the questions asked would be related to current socio-political events or phenomena. This way, the users can feel involved and heard. After answering, a visual representation of the gathered data will be shown, to showcase the answers the board has collected so far.
We believe there is a lot of potential in this idea, and it could be used in great ways to show, boost, influence the mood/state of mind of the user for the better.

Getting started: how did we organize our project?
Today we took some time to set up our different platforms for team communication and collaboration. We started a Trello board for our time management, and project overview, set up a folder in Google Drive, where we will share all documents and media that we create and find. We made a Whatsapp group to communicate in and will also use our designated Microsoft Teams channel to update each other and our teachers about our progress.
Week #1 Brainstorming
This week we brainstormed a lot! We started with a brainstorming session where all of us came up with our own ideas. In the end, we had 39 ideas in total! Then we organized them into different categories - User-Oriented, Artistic, Tech Oriented, Creative solutions. We gathered everything and created a mindmap to visualize it. The golden links connect the ideas that incorporate all of the categories. Those are the ideas that we're considering to be our final choice for this project.
First day of the new project
Today I'm getting started on the second project with a new team - with Sami and Kris. I'm excited to work with them because they are from the Business stream, and I feel like I can learn a lot from them. Even though we are all not so familiar with tech, I'm sure that we are going to make something great.
