--Set somewhere between Providence and What They Become--
Just because Antoine Triplett doesn’t mention the fact he’s the grandson of a Howling Commando, doesn’t mean his family’s honor means nothing to him.
It’s actually the opposite.
He’s proud to be Gabe Jones’ grandson.
At the end of the day, he wants to be his own man and earn his way through the world.
Even though, Trip is all for taking inspiration from his grandfather.
There’s always room for improvement, even in Shield.
He learned long ago that it’s better for people to get to know him as himself first before learning of his heritage.
Most people understand why.
Of course, his honor has taken some blows over the years.
But what person’s hasn’t?
Anyone who claims favoritism and or nepotism haven shut down by his record.
Trip prefers for it to not come down to that but he also knows there’s no pleasing everyone all the time.
Besides, it makes for interesting conversation with his friend, Sharon Carter.
Another person trying to making out of the shadow of family legacy while still appreciating the efforts of those that came before them and the honor that comes with it.
Trip hopes that when the time comes, he will be remembered as an honorable person and more than just a legacy.
Okay so here is the plot for what is going to happen for the rest of the trip fic
Drifting part 3:
Okay so in this, it was a Dipper POV. It starts with him being totally pissed at himself for being a total asshole to Ty and Mabel. He spends the day at school ignoring them and stuff, and then he goes on the date. Except when he’s there, he notices Ty, hanging out with this dude with a leather jacket. And sure he’s just seeing the back of the guys head, but he’s p sure he’s never seen him before. And then he makes Tyrone laugh really loud and Dipper is like who the fuck is this guy what even is his deal and also why does Dipper even give a crap? Like his bro is happy right, he shouldn’t care as long as he’s happy? But he does care! So wtf? meanwhile his date is all like why did you even invite me to this if you’re just going to not talk to me and stare over my shoulder and he’s like whoops I’m still terrible with the ladies apparently…
ANYWAY
Then the guy Ty is sitting with stands up and Ty makes eye contact with Dipper and Dipper is like oh shit he’s seen me and Ty looks like he’s seen a ghost and then the guy comes back and Dipper realises it’s Trung and he’s like oh my god I was jealous of Trung?? Ty’s straight as aruler bestie? Oh my god.
And then his date is all can we leave now and he’s like I am wayyy ahead of you
ENDSCENE, FASTFORWARD TO DIPPER ARRIVING HOME ON HIS OWN BC HIS DATE GOT AN UBER INSTEAD OF RIDING WITH HIS AWKWARD BUTT and he’s p dejected about it but mainly about the gross hotcold feeling he got when he thought Ty was on a date and what exactly that means you know?
He arrives home feeling p shaken and sees Ty on the landing. He’s all frozen and then Ty goes inside their room and Dipper feels all hot and twisted inside and storms out of the house and goes on a longass ride in his car bc he can’t deal with feelings properly., End Chapter
Waiting:
Okay so this starts with a Ty POV!
Dipper has been totally missing in action since he saw him on the landing, and Ty is like, positive its bc he knew he kissed Mabel, and he feels totally totally guilty about it, because how could he do that to Dipper when he knew how shit it felt to have it done to him? What a grade A douche he is. Like, actually the worst person in the entire world, probably.
Mabel is sort of ignoring him, sort of trying to corner him in a room to get him to talk about feelings. Which is fine, you know, when he’s not dealing with his own inner turmoil. So to deal he’s hanging with Trung a lot, because…you know…avoidance is a totally healthy mental health technique.
Switching to Mabel’s POV, she wants to tell Dipper and Trung about how she sort of maybe likes them both the same? And that’s weird for her too because like, she just broke up with her boyfriend. Isn’t it sort of lamebrain of her to switch to two guys right away? Two related guys, at that. But she wants to badly for the three of then to just…talk again. Properly. She wants to just be friends again, you know?
So one night, when Dipper is in bed pretending to be asleep, she waits outside the room for Ty to come back from his TrungTy hangout, and when he does she grabs him in the hallway and just….well okay, she cries a lot at first. Because it’s a lot, and he’s right here, and she’s missed him so much, you know? And then after he hugs her and she stops crying so loud, she just…well she tells him. That she likes him. And he just stares at her like he’s about to shatter and she shakes her head and grabs his hands and tries to explain it better - because she likes both of them, you know? Both of them. The same. And she knows he likes both of them too, and he doesn’t…it’s not right, without Dipper. But she wanted to tell him so maybe they could…start to get back to normal? At least a little bit?
And then Ty’s POV: Ty smiles but it’s only a little bit happy and mostly sad because he knows what a shitty situation this is, and he holds her close and he whispers okay in her ear because that’s all he knows how to do, and he kisses her too, just a small chaste one, and probably the last time, too, until they figure this stuff out. And then he goes inside his room. He thinks for a half second he sees Dipper watching him through the corner of his eye, but changes his mind and pulls the cover over his head, trying his best to sleep while his insides are whirling inside him. End chapter.
Realisation
EXCEPT DIPPER WAS AWAKE THE WHOLE TIME AND HEARD HUSHED PARTS OF THE CONVERSATION AND KNOWS WHAT MABEL SAID OH MY GOD! And he’s like oh my god. This is too much. It’s basically all his fault none of them are talking properly, and he actually 100% knows it now, and it’s way, way too stressful to think about. He knows Mabel and Ty are trying really hard to be proper tripletfriends, and trying to make everything feel normal - and it would be normal, if he’d just been sleeping like a normal person. Except he’s not a normal person and he wasn’t sleeping and now he knows the whole story and it’s basically killing him inside.
So he goes on long drives even though gas is expensive to avoid going home after school and to make himself think - because when you drive, you’re going through the motions and it’s sort of zen and it feels like his mind clears and gives him time to think.
And one night after a particularly close call with a deer, and he’s clutching the wheel and breathing all deep nad thinking oh my god I could have died, he…sort of realises he maybe likes both of them too. Nothing like a life or death situation to put stuff in context, right?
But he doesn’t really know what it means because he’s never been into guys before, so like…does it count? But he’s not into every girl he sees either, like maybe Ty is just the first? And why does he even need to label it anyway, can’t he just like…accept it? Go with it?
Except if he gets it wrong this time then he’s not just fucked up a little bit, he’s fucked up his brother, and his sister too, and that’s just too much you know? He’s…huge on anxiety. Drowning in it. And there’s no one he can talk to about it because he’s not even sure if he can say it outloud himself yet.
But you know what? If he goes on like this maybe he’ll die like that. Just a perpetual anxiety machine, awkward and probably alone because he’s pushed his sibs away. And he’s not down with that. Not at all. So he’s going to take the risk, even though it’s scary, because fuck it life is scary, right?
So he drives home way faster than he should considering he almost got totalled by a deer, and when he gets home he throws open the door but only Mabel is around, and she’s like Dipper are you okay? Because you sort of have crazy person eyes. And he probably does have crazy person eyes. He feels crazy. But instead of explaining that to her he runs up and grabs her and pulls her into a kiss, like the one they had before but better, because he knows what it means now, and Mabel pushes him away after a few minutes because - and she tries to say it - because Ty -
but he stops her, because Ty…Ty is half of it, too. And he’s going to tell him, today, as well, because he…he likes both of them. And he doesn’t know what it means yet but he wants to try. And Mabel just looks at him and then she’s smiling and then she’s laughing and then she’s crying, and she’s jumping into his arms and kissing his neck and his cheeks and his mouth, and he’s laughing crying too (except in a manly way) because the tightness in his chest is finally leaving him.
And then there’s a strangled gasp and they turn around and Ty is in the landing just looking at them like he wants to die, and then he turns around and runs out the door, and that tightness comes right back. End chapter
End
Ty’s POV, and he’s running because oh my god what had he just seen? Like, seriously? And he can’t even be mad at Mabel really because he knows what he’d do in that situation, you know? If someone actually likes you, and you like them, you just…you act on it. He imagines. It’s been so long since that happened to him he can’t really even picture it.
And he’s happy for them really. He knows he’s holding them back, and if it’s easier and better for it to just be the two of them, he’s down. Like, totally down. He just needs time and space to get used to it. Maybe.
And somehow he ends up at that same park he was at before, and he goes to his original hang out above the slide, and he’s sitting there with his head in his hands trying to absorb it all, and then there’s a voice, and he stands up and looks down and it’s Dipper. And he almost laughs because this looks so much like Rapunzel, except it’s nothing like Rapunzel because there’s a happily ever after at the end of that story and he’s just going to get some weird excuses here.
So he says it’s okay, more to himself than to Dipper, because it is. He’ll be fine. Life goes on, until it doesn’t…but he wasn’t at that point. Not yet, anyway.
And Dipper shakes his head and he grips his hands and he says that’s not it, not really, it’s complicated, its…
And they’re looking at each other and Tyrone just wants to know, why are you even here, I saw you with her and…I want you two to be happy, so, it’s okay. I’ll deal. I just…need a minute or three hundred out here on the slide.
And Dipper just shakes his head because that’s not it.
And Ty’s heart is beathing hard and fast in his chest, and he asks what?
And Dipper says, “I…I don’t know if I like guys, okay? But I do know I like you. A lot.” and he swallows, and it looks painful, and then he makes proper eyecontact, “I like you Ty, okay? I like you both, and…I just…I want to…”
And then Ty catapults himself down the slide like he’s five and takes Dipper out on the other end. In his brain he would have ended up on top of him proper romantic like, but instead he kicks him hard in the stomach and Dipper doubles over and Ty is like ‘oh my god I am so sorry’
And Dipper sort of smiles mainly winces at him, ‘I guess I sort of deserve it.’
‘Yeah you sort of do,’ Ty says, but he’s smiling, and Dipper’s smiling, and then there faces are close to each other and then there lips are touching and its awkward, more awkward than he thought it would be, and it doesn’t last long, but it’s just as warm and wonderful as it was with Mabel. And Tyrone can barely keep a smile off his face as he pulls himself and his brother up properly and they try again, and it’s even better than the first time, and then there’s a yell and they break apart and look around and Mabel is running towards them in her PJs, even though its actually freezing out, and she lunges into their arms before they can tell her off for not putting on shoes and they’re laughing and hugging and giving each other wet, messy kisses, and they know it’s cold and they’ll have to go inside pretty quick if they don’t want Mabel to get ridiculously sick, but they’re together again and they’re happy and it feels like the first time in forever since that’s happened, so they just stand there. For a few moments. Letting it all sink in. Because they’re together, and they have so much stuff to figure out, but they get to figure it out together now.
The end
There you go! It’s not perfect, but it’s what I got :)
Last prompt, I swear: TripSkye are on an undercover mission at a hotel. (Un)fortunately, there has been a mix-up when they were booking their room. The room they're staying in has only one bed..
I’m not sure this is what you wanted or had in mind when you prompted me but here’s a fic anyways.
It started off as amission to get some intel from lower level Hydra members on the organization’sinterest in some alien artifacts and a possible lead on another Inhumantransformation chamber.
So Coulson sent Daisyand Trip undercover to see what they could dig up.
One fancy party andintact covers later, the pair retreated to a hotel to wait for extraction thenet day.
“Mmm….I don’t knowabout you but I am looking forward to chilling tonight with a movie and someroom service.”
Daisy grinned at Trip.
“Come on girl. Youdon’t want to go out on our night off and find some real good food?”
“It’s been a long dayand nothing sounds better than relaxing in the room on a very comfy bed.”
Looking up at Trip, she batted her eyelashes causing him to laugh.
“Alright,alright…..have it your way.”
The pair walked up tothe counter and waited in line for a couple minutes until one of the conciergewas available to check them in.
Their room was on thefourth floor so they elected to take the elevator instead of walking up theseveral flights of stairs with all of their gear.
The moment the door totheir room was opened, Daisy let out a sigh of relief only to freeze at thesight before her.
“Daisy? Why did youstop walking?”
She didn’t reply soTrip looked around her and raised an eyebrow at the sight.
There was only one bedin the room.
Of course, they hadrequested two beds but someone at the hotel messed up somewhere.
“We couldn’t have aperfectly smooth day, could we?”
Daisy sighed.
Trip stepped aroundher and placed his gear down against the wall but out of the way.
“It’s not that bad.You could have ended up sharing a room with Hunter.”
She shuddered at theimage.
“Yeah, you’ddefinitely be my first choice of guy to share a room with.”
Trip smirked.
“Glad to know we’re onthe same page.”
“Is that so? I thoughtyou’d be all over sharing a room with May,”
“Only as a last resortbecause I respect her too much.”
“Oh. So you don’t respectme?”
“Hey now, there’s noone I’m more comfortable with than you.”
Daisy stared at himfor a few moments before she grinned at him.
“You and your charm, makes it impossible to be upset with you. You know that?”
Her question wasemphasized with several pokes to his chest.
Daisy tried to pretendshe didn’t notice how firm Trip’s chest was and the effect it was having onher.
Stepping away, shecrossed her arms and looked around the room so she missed the pleased look onhis face.
“So how about we ordersome food from room service? I think we deserve it for keeping the mission fromending up as a fire fight.”
“Whatever you want,girl.”
Daisy flopped down onthe bed with the room service menu in front of her.
“Let’s see what theyhave to offer and if there’s anything that can go into that temple of yours.”
Following her lead,Trip walked over to the bed and sat down behind Daisy so he would have to lookover her shoulder to see the menu. He pressed himself close to her back andsmirked to himself when he heard her breath catch in her throat.
“So what looks good toeat?”
It took her a fewmoments to respond.
“I think one of thepizzas would be good, the classic Margarita pizza.”
Trip pulled away toplace the order as Daisy let out a deep breath.
“I’m going to take ashower and make myself comfortable.”
Without waiting for aresponse, Daisy grabbed what she needed from her gear.
Half an hour later, the pizza had arrived when she exited it from the bathroom.
“There you are. Ithought you drowned in the shower.”
Trip had stretched outon the bed and was leaning against the headboard with an arm behind his head ashe grinned at Daisy.
Biting her lip, shewalked back over to her gear and placed her things away.
“So how’s the pizza?”
“It’s pretty good, youshould try some.”
Daisy walked over tothe tray with the pizza, grabbed a plate then placed a couple slices on it.Then she moved to sit on the edge of the foot of the bed.
“Come join me overhere, Daisy.”
She thought about itfor a moment then carefully made her way up to the top of the bed and the openspot next to Trip.
Taking a bite of thepizza, she closed her eyes and savored the flavor.
It didn’t take herlong to finish off her pizza while Trip decided to take a page out of Daisy’sbook and took a shower.
When he returned,Daisy was gathering up the dishes and putting them on the large tray they cameon.
“So we probably shouldget some sleep. The extraction team will be here bright and early.”
Daisy nodded her head.
“Sounds good to me.Just one thing……:”
Waving at the bed, shewasn’t sure how this was going to work out.
“We will share, that’sthe only way.”
Trip smiled thatconfidant smile that usually put her at easy, at her but she thought that shesaw something else in his expression; a glimmer of excitement or something likeit.
Daisy walked over tothe bed and climbed into the left side and Trip followed suit on the otherside.
“You know I won’t biteunless you want me to, Daisy.”
Laughing loudly, shemoved from the edge of the bed and closer to him.
Then she quieted andbit her lip as she looked at Trip.
“I’ve just never…..shareda bed with someone who wasn’t my boyfriend.”
Daisy didn’t want toremember Miles so she pushed him to the back of her mind and focused on the manwho was in the same bed as her.
He wrapped an armaround her shoulder the kissed the top of her head.
“You know you cantrust me.”
“I do trust you, Trip;more than anyone else.”
She placed her head onhis shoulder while lying on her side as she draped an arm over his stomach.
“Good night, Trip.”
“Good night, Daisy.”
Trip moved them sothey were lying down on the bed then scanned the room one more time to makesure they were safe.
Closing her eyes,Daisy smiled as she let the sound of his heartbeat lull her to sleep.
He looked down at herone more time with a soft smile on his face before he closed his eyes and lethimself fall asleep.
“Are you….are you listening to Taylor Swift, Skye?”
Skye nodded unashamed.
“Her music is catchy and have you paid attention to her lyrics?”
Trip raised an eyebrow at her comment.
“Come over here and you can listen to one of my favorite songs.”
Shrugging, he did as he was directed.
Plus, it was a chance to get close to Skye and that was his favorite pastime.
“So, what’s the song called?”
“It’s called Out of the Woods.”
And that was how the pair spent the rest of their day--listening to Taylor Swift in Skye’s room but neither had any complaints.
tripskye + I thought you were someone else but I’m still glad I kissed you
This was a first for Skye. She’s never had a random stranger kiss her but if they’re all as attractive as this man then she wouldn’t complain so much if it happened again.
“I am so sorry. I thought you were….”
“Your girlfriend or boyfriend?”
“No, just my friend.”
Skye couldn’t help wondering if he was single.
“Go around kissing friends often? How does your other half feel about that?”
There was no way that tall, dark and handsome didn’t have a partner.
The man grinned.
“Nah, not often. As for your other question, I wouldn’t know since that person doesn’t exist.”
That was a surprise.
“You look surprised, girl.”
He smirked; may be this won’t blow up in his face.
“I just can’t imagine someone with that smile who kisses like that would be single.”
“You’re pretty great yourself especially for not expecting it. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?”
“Your name would be nice, for a start.”
“For a start, the name’s Antoine Triplett but people call me Trip.”
He couldn’t help smiling at the brunette.
Returning the smile, Skye batted her eyelashes at the handsome man.
“Wonderful to meet you, Trip; I’m Skye, just Skye.”
“Well, ‘just Skye’ I bet there’s more to you than that.”
Dinner was fantastic and Skye couldn’t remember laughing so much; whether it was at the stories told or her boyfriend’s face, was anyone’s guess. The table was cleared and dishes where done by the brunette and Trip.
Once they were done, the quartet retired into the living room.
“Ben dear, I realized that I forgot to pick up a few ingredients for one of the appetizers I’m making for the party. Would you mind going out and picking them up?”
“Of course not. Antoine, why don’t you come with me and let the ladies get better acquainted.”
Trip looked between his parents with a suspicious look before looking at his girlfriend, who gave him a reassuring smile.
“Sure, dad. I could probably do with picking up a few things myself.”
The two men left the house after kissing their ladies goodbye.
Glenda grinned at her potential daughter-in-law.
“Now that they’re gone, we can get to the good stuff. Do you still want to look at the albums?”
Nodding her head, Skye’s smile matched the other woman’s.
“Sounds fantastic.”
“Wonderful, let’s get some cookies and tea then we can pull them out.”
Ten minutes later, the two women were settled in on the couch as Glenda pulled up the first album.
“These are some of my favorites of my son and the rest of the family over the years. He takes a pretty good photo.”
“I’ve noticed, makes me kind of envious.”
“You’re a beautiful girl, Skye and a great match for my son; which reminds me, before the two of you leave, I’d like to get a photograph of the two of you together.”
Skye smiled, feeling wowed by the request.
“I’d like that, as long as I could get a copy.”
“I’ll make sure you take a whole pack of pictures home. Now, let’s look at the ones that have been taken.”
The first picture was of a newborn Antoine in his mother’s arms with his father sitting on the edge of the bed with his arm around his wife’s shoulder.
The next couple pictures were of the first few months he was at home, smiling in each of them and they made Skye smile.
“He really was a cute baby and even then, his smile steals hearts.”
“Sounds like my son but you’re the one who has stolen his.”
The brunette couldn’t help blushing at the comment.
The next album was full of embarrassing photos that mothers think are adorable.
“Oh gosh, that better be chocolate cake on his face and not something else.”
The thought caused Skye to shudder.
Glenda nodded; she thought the same when the photo was taken.
Then there were pictures from her boyfriend’s naked phase which caused her to laugh as there was genuine proof of the stories.
She grabbed a cookie from the plate and took a bite.
As they continued to look at pictures, she noticed a blonde girl in many of them especially as Trip got older.
“Glenda, who is that?”
Looking where Skye was pointing, she identified the girl.
“Oh, that’s Sharon Carter. She’s one of Antoine’s oldest and closest friends. Her aunt, Peggy, has been a family friend and knew my father, Gabe for years. She’s a sweetheart but isn’t anyone’s doormat.”
“I think Trip’s mentioned her before but we’ve never met.”
“You will at the party because the Carters are invited. Unfortunately, Peggy is no longer with us so this the first Christmas she doesn’t have her aunt. Though, I think meeting you will help. She’s been teasing him for months.”
“I’ll look forward to it then. Anyone important to Trip is worth meeting.”
An hour and a half later, the men had returned with bags in hand. Ben and Trip carried them into the kitchen and put the things away before joining the women in the living room.
Looking around, Trip let out a groan as he noticed the albums.
“Really, mom? There was no reason to show Skye those.”
Skye got up from the couch and walked up to her boyfriend where she wrapped her arms around him in a hug.
“You were a cute kid, Trip; that’s nothing to be ashamed of. I wish I had someone take those kinds of pictures of me.”
Looking down at his girlfriend, Trip kissed her forehead.
“Alright you two, it’s getting late and we have a long day tomorrow getting ready for the party.”
The couple said goodnight then headed upstairs to Trip’s room.
“You ready for the craziness that is the prep for the annual Triplett/Jones Holiday Party?”
Skye smirked.
“As ready as I’m gonna be.”
----
Two days later, Skye found herself standing in the Tripletts’ living room and being introduced to various family members and family friends. She could see why her boyfriend loved the people in the room.
“Hey Skye, come with me. There’s someone I really want you to meet.”
The brunette was curious as she followed her boyfriend over to two older gentlemen.
“Grandad, Uncle Luke…this is my girlfriend Skye. Skye, this is my Grandad Gabe Jones and my uncle, Luke Jones.”
Both men smiled at her.
“It’s wonderful to meet the both of you.”
“It’s our pleasure to meet the woman that makes our boy smile brighter than the sun.”
Skye couldn’t help blushing at the compliment.
The brunette wasn’t the only one, so was her boyfriend.
“Uncle…..”
“It’s the truth, Antoine.”
As her boyfriend started to discuss the merits of making comments like that, his granddad gestured her closer.
“Come find me when my grandson is busy, I have a few stories I think you’d like to hear.”
He smiled mischievously at her nod.
Deciding to save her boyfriend, she tapped him on the shoulder.
“Let’s go get something to drink, Trip.”
He nodded at her then grinned at his uncle before taking her hand and leading her away.
When the couple got there drinks, Trip was about to say something when they were interrupted.
“Merry Christmas, Trip. Come give your favorite blonde a hug.”
Skye watched as the unknown woman hugged her boyfriend before realizing that it must be his friend, Sharon.
“Hey girl. It’s great to see you. You’re looking good.”
“You’re such a charmer and you’ve seen me on my better days. This isn’t it but it’s good enough.”
Then she turned to the brunette and smirked.
“You’ve been holding out on me, Trip. There’s no way she’s your girlfriend…she’s too out of your league for you.”
“You must be Sharon. It’s really great to meet you.”
“I’m happy that I finally got to meet you as well. We’ll need to have a day out to get better acquainted.”
A cough caught the trio’s attention.
They looked over to a tall and blond man.
“Skye, this Trip’s good friend and my boyfriend, Steve Rogers.”
Following Glenda upstairs to the room she’ll be staying in, Skye couldn’t help pausing to admire the photographs on the wall. Her boyfriend was a cute kid growing up.
“If you want to see some more, we can pull out the photo albums later.”
Skye smiled and Trip’s mother returned it.
“I’d love that.”
“Wonderful. We can send Antoine off with his father so we can enjoy looking at the pictures and not listen to his whining.”
Her boyfriend liked to come off as chill but it seems like she found his Achilles heel.
“What are you two talking about here on the stairs?”
The brunette looked over her shoulder and saw Trip heading up the stairs with their bags.
“Nothing you need to concern yourself, young man.”
The trio continued up the stairs then down the hall to Trip’s old bed room.
Skye stepped into the room and looked around; not completely surprised by the décor as there were similar touches in their apartment.
“I’ll let you two get settled in but Antoine, I’ll expect you downstairs to set the table.”
“Yes ma’am.”
He grinned at his mother as she left the room then turned his attention to his girlfriend.
“So, you gonna tell me what you were talking about?”
Her lips formed into a smirk as Skye shook her head.
“Sorry but that’s privileged information.”
Trip quickly closed the distance between them, wrapping his arms around her waist before leaning his forehand against hers.
“Well…we have ways of making people talk.”
Leaning in closer, he kissed her deeply but without a need to rush.
“Mmm…good attempt but I think I’ll keep the conversation to myself.”
Pulling away, Skye couldn’t help chuckling at her boyfriend’s expression.
“Come on, I don’t want to ruin my first impression with your mother by her thinking I’m up here having my wicked way with her precious little boy.”
Trip’s eyes widened then he licked his lips, showing how much he liked the suggestion. Reaching out, he tried to pull her back into him.
“Save it for when we get home, lover boy.”
He sighed.
“This is going to be a long few days.”
Laughing, Skye grabbed his hand then pulled him out of the room.
---
While Trip was busy setting the table for dinner, Skye wandered into the kitchen to see if there was anything she could do to help.
“Thanks sweetpea but the meal’s practically ready to go once my husband gets home. How about you get yourself and Antoine something to drink from the fridge.”
Skye walked over and pulled out the pitcher of ice tea. Looking around, she smiled when Glenda pointed out the cabinet that held the glasses then grabbed two. She saw an almost empty glass of ice tea on the counter.
“Would you like some more ice tea, Glenda?”
“Yes, thank you. Why don’t you take your drinks out to the dining room and send my son in here to help carry the food.”
The brunette refilled her glass, put the pitcher away then did as instructed.
“Hey Trip, your mom….”
“….wants me to help carry in the food,” he interrupted with a smile.
Nodding her head, she pecked his cheek then placed their glasses down on the table.
“Now, this lovely lady kissing on my son must be the wonderful Skye Antoine has told me so much about.”
The sudden voice caused Skye to look up. She saw a tall male the splitting image of her boyfriend standing there.
“Uh, yeah. I’m Skye. You must be Mr. Triplett, it’s nice to meet you, sir.”
Trip’s father made his way over to her and held out his hand to shake with a warm smile on his face.
“Benjamin Triplett, please call me Ben. My son’s told my wife and I so much about you that it already feels like you’re part of the family.”
The brunette shook his hand, relieved that Trip’s father seemed just as nice as his mother.
They’re interrupted by the other two Tripletts bringing in the food.
“Hey dad, I see that you met Skye.”
“Indeed, and I’m looking forward to getting to know her better.”
“Alright, enough of this standing around. Everyone take your seat.”
Glenda clapped her hands and the others did what she wanted.
From what Skye could see, the food looked delicious and she couldn’t wait to try the home cooked meal.
The dishes were passed around the table as chicken, potatoes, brussel sprouts and bread were dished out onto the individual plates. The sounds of people eating were the only things heard for a few minutes.
“All of this is delicious, Glenda”
“Thank you dear. I do enjoy cooking for the people I love.”
“So, my son tells us you were in the foster care system as a child.”
Skye nodded at Ben’s comment.
“From the first day that I could remember until the day I turned eighteen.”
Trip gave his father a look which was ignored and caused his girlfriend to smile at him, that it was fine as she’s made peace with her childhood.
The dinner passed with ease and the brunette felt her comfort with the Tripletts grow as the minutes passed.
“So when Antoine was five years old, he went through this phase where he refused to wear clothes at home. We could get him into them when we had to go out but the moment we get back home, he was out of them faster than someone getting out of a burning building. It didn’t matter if we had company over or not.”
Skye couldn’t help laughing at the story her boyfriend’s father was telling and at the expression on Trip’s face.
Trip’s parents were everything that she thought they would be like. Of course, she shouldn’t have been so surprised because of their son, the man she fell in love with. Skye was looking forward to spending the holiday with them and the rest of their family. Maybe, one day they will be hers too.
