12, 27 & 30 for the end of year asks
12 - longest fic you read this year - if we're talking a single fic, not a series, that I've actually finished (sorry Snidge, I will get there), I believe that honor goes to Displaced by socksock/@airplanned. It is a lovely post-BOTW story about Zelda and Link processing who and where they are now, and beginning the daunting task of rebuilding Hyrule. If you have Zelink allergies, it's worth taking your benadryl for the fantastic multicultural worldbuilding featuring some really great Rito and Gerudo storylines.
27 - best fandom moment of the year - I lucked into a wonderful little community of Zelda fans and writers who have become dear friends, and while that isn't a moment unto itself, it has provided many moments of joy in an otherwise shit year. I think it all comes together for me with the fic of fic challenge for which I wrote Naive Melody. That's a story I never would have written without being part of a community; it not only provided the catalyst (the challenge: write a fic of @drsteggy's fic), but the necessary motivation (emotional: I know my friend processed some trauma with the original fic and I feel like it's my turn to do the same) and support (sprints and encouragement and rubber ducking to see me through writing the longest fic of my writing career). Getting positive feedback from you, Sun, and the original author, Steggy, meant the world to me. And that is all about the fandom community, not the fandom canon, if you know what I mean.
30 - fandom resolution for next year - I have two WIPs that I really planned to get out before the end of 2021 and that just didn't happen for various reasons. So, I hereby resolve to at least finish and post them both: the Link/Paya no more than reason missing scene, and the side smut for Naive Melody. As for anything else... well, we'll see what happens.
