another photographer who had their work exhibited at the portraiture prize exhibition. The image on the right is the one that was shown at the portraiture gallery. I found it particularly striking due to the colours in the clothing and the background, as well as the soft presence and beautiful face of the subject. The human presence in the image adds a sense of relation to the viewer which is seemingly independent to portraiture.  

the second image has striking lighting marks on both the background and subject. This shows how lighting can completely change the appearance and feel of an image, showing how important it is when you have a specific intention. The shadow on the left side of his face can relate to the ‘hiding’ aspect of the portraiture project, and what ward has shown to expose and hide. 

the photograph below also stood out to me as it was very different to her other images on her website. It was inspiring to see portraiture that wasn’t so close up, and captured individual’s in their normal day-to-day settings. The overall composure was quite striking. This could also be influential in the tableau side of the project.
