The war had ended, the arrow that was meant for Snow was shot, and all of Panem changed. Peeta was returned to 13 after the execution for more treatment for his hijacking. He had heard the news that Katniss and Haymitch were returned to 12 and that he could join them, once they figured out what was going on in his mind.
It felt like a century but only a few days after Peeta was admitted back in 13, there was a huge commotion. He was resting in his room, when he woke up to see doctors and nurses scurrying left and right. It seemed like something big was going on or someone was dying. He was under the assumption that he was one of the only patients in 13′s hospital.
Things were different since he returned, the doctors and nurses stopped restraining him and gave him almost full access to most of the areas. He slowly stood up from his bed and walked into the hallway to see what was going on. He walked slowly towards the room beside him to see the commotion, he stood out of the way but was curious to see who they were fussing over.
Only a couple minutes went by before Peeta was able to see who lied on the operating table. He felt his heart sink and he was bombarded with an arrangement of feelings. Fear, worry, despair, guilt, happiness, relieved, scared, nervous, anxious, and so on. He took a step into the room to get a better look at his friend, who was just laid to rest in an empty coffin in district 4. Finnick Odair.
