I feel like I have been “moving forward” lately. It really is amazing how things come to fruition when you have a plan and work with intentionality. I’ve been interested in photography for years and have been assaulting (ok…maybe a little extreme), driving my friends and family CRAZY with my camera. Photography actually runs in my family (father and grandfather) so I am honored to love this art along with them. I have finally decided (thanks to TRLive and #TR30Days) to allow myself to spend the time and money to focus on this and get some professional training and have enrolled in my first photography class! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about this. And to my friends and family…it only gets worse from here (a girl’s got to practice, right?)!
I also took the time for some professional development recently. I VOUNTARILY registered for a Presentation and Facilitation class…and actually showed up! This is an accomplishment coming from somebody who would rather fake sick than to speak in front of their class. And…get this…I enjoyed it. Tracy liked it! Not only did I like it, but I understood it - the reasons for specific techniques and styles of communication. Maybe that was the missing piece all those years ago. I have always been a “big picture” person and this makes much more sense to me now.
So, a little bit of personal focus, some professional focus, and a renewed sense of energy. Now, I know that there is a huge gap between taking pictures versus being a photographer and understanding communication techniques versus public speaking, but I’m making that gap smaller and moving forward. So, how about you? Are you moving forward? Do you know what gaps you’re bridging?
