antonia startled upon hearing the voice, head immediately whipping around to spy with her keen eyesight just who had found her. jesus fucking christ, it just had to be steve harrington, didn’t it ?? her eyes flickered about the scenery- she had already known she was in the woods, desperately looking for some kind of substitute for livestock. apparently, upon moving to hawkins, her mother took the consideration that antonia needed to figure out how to balance out her diet without draining actual livestock so much. after all, there were only so many farms within a reasonable distance of hawkins so antonia couldn’t just raid the places. 

so she went looking for deer. she just didn’t expect to have been so close to the harrington residence.

THIS PLACE WASN’T UNFAMILIAR TO IT. it hadn’t been there before, however it’s seen it, smelt it, felt it once before.  the exploration of the terrain was in search of something to satisfy its hunger and it knew the wooded area held plenty to eat.  the monster had emerged from a portal on the ground, sentient vines reaching across the entrance to keep it hidden as it emerged.  

a soft yet eerie chirp sounded from the creature, an attempt to locate nearby prey.  sometimes it would get a response.  other times it’ll startle something, allowing the monster to track it down.  

a snap of a twig caught its attention, faceless head turning sharply as it observes the area, the direction the sound came from.  it repeats the same chirp before stalking silently towards the source.

“Fuck him.” King of Hawkins bullshit, Tommy runs his damn mouth too much and now Billy’s too invested. Too interested. Been too close to Steve Harrington too many times, and that touch of finger to his bare chest set something a flame in him. “If you’re so interested in Steve Harrington then go fucking talk to Steve Harrington and stop wasting my time.”

Eyes narrow, watching Steve. God it couldn’t have been a coincidence that he parked this close-- to Billy’s car. It’s amusing really-- how Billy seems to be just as intrigued by Steve as Steve is with Billy. After all it isn’t everyday that someone new comes to Hawkins is it? Leaning against his car, smoking a cigarette, eyes looking Steve over as he walks over. “You mean to park this close to me Harrington?” Oh but he knows the answer to that doesn’t he? The denial would be laid on thick and a smirk pulls up Billy’s lips.

Nothing but the radio fills silence. The question doesn’t come from nowhere either, it’s lingered around too much although not spoken. It’s in the way that Steve looks at him sometimes, in the way that they kiss and the way that Steve looks at him afterwards. Billy’s never been good at saying it. After all love is a fucking lie-- love is bullshit because if he learned anything from his mother it’s that love is just something you throw away and Neil has only further ingrained that into his brain.

“Steve...” Flicks ashes off the end of his cigarette, looking straight ahead. It’s not simple. The answer isn’t fucking simple because it’s been two months since they met-- one month since the fight at the Byers house-- two weeks since they started hanging out like this. A peace offering extended in the form of an invitation to the Harrington house for Christmas and Billy proved to be quite the charmer to Steve’s family.

And Billy didn’t leave after it was over. Billy stayed and stayed in Steve’s room-- in Steve’s bed. And since then it’s been -- subtle knee touching, shared cigarettes. Late nights spent in Billy’s car. And they haven’t kissed yet-- and yet to stay that the thought hadn’t crossed Billy Hargrove’s mind would be a lie. And now-- in the darkness of the Z/28 with the heater on in the middle of fucking January, Steve Harrington is asking if Billy loves him.
