You are tired, (I think) Of the always puzzle of living and doing; And so am I. -E.E. Cummings . I used 3 colors of pencils (black [graphites], white [charcoal] & red) on tan paper. I loved getting to express the "raggedy ann-ish" bow in her hair, which I wouldn't be able to do as well if I hadn't used red. I wanted to convey a mood. A restless waiting. Here's my latest @drawingnewyork Portrait Drawing Workshop demo, drawn from life. Using the "trois crayons" technique (which is drawing using three colors: black, red, and white) I used graphite, red color pencil and white charcoal on tan paper. I love this technique! It's so much fun to play around with, and it makes time fly. 🍂Sidenote: Isn't Madeline's expression so delicately intense?
