        a blink at first  ,  with coffee brown eyes flickering up toward the other ;  looking a littlelost for a moment  ;  but then realizes that the man in question was speaking to him.  once it sinks in ,  brows raise skyward ,  before a smile splits over his lips , nodding enthusiastically.

      his free hand gently picks up his phone ,  fingers easily typing into it :

 ‘    they know me as the guy who tries to smuggle cats in out of the rain.  i’m pretty much a legend around here (✿◠‿◠)     ’

            “STARBUCKS FAMOUS BUT NOT FOR DRINKING TONS OF COFFEE? Wow.” Julian takes one last glance at the typed-out response, smiling to himself at the use of that emoji. A little too cute for his taste, but it oddly fits. Which is a strange thought to have about someone he doesn’t even know.              Soft groan on his lips, he seats himself right at the stranger’s table, not bothering to even entertain the idea of asking for permission. “You trying to be some sorta hero, smuggling in wet little kitty cats? Honors you, really. There’s not enough nice people in the world.”

it was a relief when she not only got his attention with a few simple waves ---- but to her surprise, he even   understood   her signs !! the look in his eye was practically contagious as a similar shimmer graced her features. ‘ thank you ’ ivy replies with a few swift motions & makes her home in the seat beside him. to sit there in silence would have felt like a wasted opportunity -- as much as she’d like to leave him to whatever he was doing on his phone, she was excited by the thought of conversation ( sans a pen & paper ). 

       attempting to get his attention once more, she signs. ‘ i’m  i v y by the way. it’s nice to meet you. ’ a soft smile follows her gestures.

                          (   eyes  are  fixed  on  the  pouring  rain,  feet  shuffling  as  if  he  can't  decide  on  whether  to  trek  out  in  it  or  not.   maybe  if  it  was  lighter  he  wouldn't  have  even  thought  twice,  but  it's  like  the  equivalent  of  a  blizzard  out  there--  it  seems  so  much  more  appealing  to  stay  in  the  store  for  the  meantime.   )
