A fantasy redesign of my dear friend' @hotanimeboys's OC, next to my favourite Daeron. I tried to limit my usage of lineart this time.
So today I can show you some of my process trying to update my profile pic.
I started from a sketch, I saw a nice smiling reference and I thought it would be good for my boy. A friend then asked me to try doing the portrait in two styles.
So I started inking the sketch (expanded by a bit more of body) and put some flats, as I would usually do.
It looked pretty cute but my experience taught me that it is better when profile pic is looking directly at the viewer. As such, I took some changes in my second, more painterly approach. As you can see, I just coloured the sketch with overlay layer and started painting on top. Interestingly enough, I chose to work on a single layer (but copied to have checkpoints to go back to).
Having properly shaded the two, I have obtained these cuties. In a way, I like both and from what I have seen, people are divided.
As a perfectionist I am, I have looked closely into both. I like the texturing of the right one and its more lively colours but I also like the more orderly shape and powerful occlusion shading of the left. And so I tried overlapping the two.
I feel like this one has the charm none of the original takes had. Of course they do not align perfectly and require cleanup but with a bit of work I may obtain the ultimate Daeron - unsettingly beautiful troll.
A character design I made for @Elsiart's challenge. He is a character from Kpop Demon Hunters universe but instead of doing pure Kpop (although more as a solist) he mixes in some mongolian themes he learned from his dad, also a demon hunter but more folkmetal one. His goal is to find his own unique style.
Commission for @goldenfantasyarts.
It was a pleasure to work on Alan. I love necromancers and even more so pretty ones.
I do have a type.
For today, something truly terrifying: Twink Death
For me it is more of a sexy design but some of my friends say it is more of cool and menacing one. What do you think?
