Troll Run 2017 Wrap-up:
We’re reaching the last few weeks of fundraising for this year’s Troll Run, and I wanted to take the time to say thank you to everyone in the community who helped with the event.
There’s so much joy in this run; I can’t help but to think of it and smile. Each year, everyone is helpful, friendly and welcoming to each other. It’s truly the embodiment of what a digital Pride Event should be, and it’s not my doing. All of you make it that way both by attending and being amazing to each other during the event. Thank you so much to the 850+ of you who attended this year.
You make me proud to be in this community. I’m humbled by all of you.
You can see tons of screenshots in the #TrollRun2k17 hashtag on Twitter.
Mostly however: Thank you for attending the event and being amazing guests. Thank you for helping to promote the run, and sharing your screenshots with us. Thank you for your retweets, reblogs, upvotes and more to help other people find out about the good work the Trevor Project is doing.
Also, thank you to people who donated gifts to promote donations: Wendy Harmon of Two Tiger Moon Studio, Mogsaddiction, and especially of course, J!NX.
A huge nod and thank you goes to the Warcraft team and Blizzard for allowing me to host the event, and for doing some server magic to make the event go as smoothly as it could with a herd of nearly a thousand of us. I 💖 you guys
Mostly, and most importantly: I know that this year has been scary and stressful for many of us. While the Troll Run provided a fantastic escape from the real for an evening, world events make things like planning for the future and being your real self seem hard. I wanted to stress the fact that for people who are young, especially those who are part of the LGBTQA+ community, groups The Trevor Project provides a place to reach out with support, and appropriate resources. Thank you for supporting them, please consider supporting them anytime of the year or treat them as a resource if you need to.
The run has raised $2,709 this year so far, and the last day to donate is August 31st, but the Trevor Project accepts charitable donations year round.
