TrollWalkers:Trylla Stones
During the war between humans and Trolls, there came to be a faction of humans who sided with the trolls and their kind. But as the war went on and these humans saw the atrocities, they went and counseled with the troll shamans on how they could help instead of simply stand by as troll sympathizers.
Seeing the eagerness and sincerity behind the Humans’ desire, the old trolls pulled together some old magic—Trylla; the spell to turn humans into trolls. Hearing this, the humans stood ready to receive their gift, but the elders stopped them. They would not turn them directly into trolls, as they still needed their daywalking allies. Instead, they had their humans choose a great stone in the forest where which the trollish shaman would lay a spell on the stone and inscribe it with magical runes.
Once the spell was made, the shaman would have the humans place a hand on the stone’s smooth surface, activating its magic and marking them with its runes. Should the time be day, the stone will glow and the human remain as they are, save for the mark of the stone runes upon their arm. But should it be night, the human would fall into a deep slumber, the stone would transform, and the human who had fallen asleep would awake as a new troll where once the magic stone stood. In that form they would stay until they fell asleep as a troll and their spirits returned to their slumbering human bodies, leaving the stone to transform back into its rune-covered self.
Thus it was that they would go and do their work in the day as a human, and when night fell, they would enter their deep sleep and through the stones, awake to do their work as trolls.
Thus were they called the Stones of Trylla—the Troll Stones.
Alas, few remain today, for many of the Stone Keepers were slain by their own kind and their troll stones shattered. But legend has it that those that remain, though old and worn, still retain their power to transform a single human into Friends of Trollkind—The TrollWalkers.
