I am printing the hotend cooler in eSun ABS+ on the CR6-SE for the TronXY X5SA part cooling upgrade. If this comes out well I may re-print the whole thing in ABS+. I am using 2 of these 12v 40x40x20 fans.

BTW, the print came out perfect no warping. Printed at 240c with 100c on the bed.

So insaw this on sale for 128 after taxes and couldn't pass it up it came 2 days early. I'm thinking of maybe doing an assembly video. So even if itnis junk the hardware alone is worth whatbi paid. I’ve been rocking #Tronxy X5 for some time now. Picked it up 2nd hand. It had a loose stepper mount after that it just keeps churning out reliable prints. I rarely get any hassle and the amazing thing is. It looks like a bag of sh*t. Literally it’s hanging to bits fans unused dangling from their cables. Botched half assed modifications. A partially converted Bowden set up. Most of its end stops move or slip. And it still keeps going. Once ol’ #Solidoly is fixed up the #X5 is getting a full work over #MMU the lot. First fun print

ok so i saw this awesome video on youtube and really wanted to print one out. Not sure if my printer is up for it but thought i would give it a go.

It printed pretty well however my circles are still not coming out as good as i would have hoped!

The thread came out really well though so if it was printed more round it might have worked a lot better.

It did start to screw together but doesn’t go all the way in.

Also the words on the bottom did not print out as well but the circles have definitely improved. I tightened the y axis, i think it’s time to take a look at the x axis and i hope it improves the situation.

also a bit hard to read with the glue which i will clean off.

Prepping the extruder

So it seems you can add simple scripts to run before your print starts so what i did was move the extruder to an empty part of the bed and extrude for 40mm to prep the extruder, This makes sure that when the print starts the hotend has been wiped clean and is primed!

This works amazingly! I also got a gluestick and put some on the print bed to help hold down the print.

I finally got a build complete and completed the torture test!

You can see the prep line at the bottom which worked great. I also removed the raft and the outline. However i think the text on the bottom still didn’t come out as well as i had hoped.

This might be due to the loose belt so more tuning is needed.

otherwise i am very happy with my first complete print! only going up from here.

Calibration!

Ok so i found a great guide on how to calibrate my extruder here > https://www.matterhackers.com/articles/how-to-calibrate-your-extruder

turns out my printer was only printing 96mm of filament when i tried to extrude 100mm. after following that guide i was able to print 100mm per 100mm which hopefully should improve my settings.

After adding these settings in and calibrating i ran this simple test to test my stringing issues which i found on thingiverse > https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1240361

They printed almost perfect! just the first layer on the first cube didn’t work as the printer didn’t start extruding right away.
