Remus picks up the note that slipped out of his lunch box.
Lily is next to him on the picnic bench. It’s the first day this year they’ve been able to eat lunch outside and they are taking full advantage.
She opens the bag James packed for her. It was something James and Sirius had gotten into a few years ago, packing their lunches. Always including little notes or intricately cut fruit or some other such nonsense they’d found while being “the best damn trophy spouses to ever exist”.
Remus openly says the whole lunch box thing is silly but secretly, it’s one of his favourite things.
Today, his note just has some doodles on it. A hasty sketch of an eye, then a door, and then just the letter ‘U’.
Remus turns to Lily with a question on his lips to find Lily staring down at his note. She looks at it for about two seconds and starts laughing. “He is such an idiot.”
