A slow-moving cold front will come from the northwest and gradually interact with tropical moisture from the remnants of #TropicalDepressionImelda within the next 24 hours. This will cause thunderstorms will develop on northern and central #Kansas, and many these storms will likely become #Severe. Primary threats will be #flooding rainfall, followed by #hail up to the size of golf balls and #downbursts (localized areas of very strong winds that blow straight down instead of horizontally). #Supercell storms that can remain isolated will also have the potential to produce #tornadoes, though a widespread outbreak is not expected. #Storms are expected to move very slowly; despite the fact that they should form by 5:00 PM today, likely the main areas of concern will not be in the #Wichita vicinity until close to or even after midnight. Overnight, the threats should shift to primarily flooding, and will likely stay south and east of the Kansas Turnpike. Everything should be out of the area by noon on Sunday. I would expect watches to be issued later on today. Be safe! #KSWX #ICTWX #KsStorms #WichitaWX (at Wichita, Kansas) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2rjI2xgzGf/?igshid=16p2m5pjf6p5o
