CLOSED EVENT STARTER FROM: DANTE @troubledwatcrs WHERE: SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK
the afternoon sun of early june filtered through the dense canopy of pinehaven’s central park, casting dappled, golden light across a makeshift wooden stage. the community theater players were currently butchering a midsummer night's dream with a level of local earnestness that made dante’s eye twitch. around them, the crowd smelled of sunscreen, lukewarm cider, and the unmistakable scent of small town domesticity. dante almost recoiled at the reality that these people thought community theater was high culture. he sat on a silk trimmed picnic blanket that he had explicitly brought to protect his trousers from the tyranny of damp earth, a pair of oversized, designer sunglasses perched on the bridge of his nose.
he was supposed to be meeting darling vivienne, but instead, he was currently occupying the same fifteen square feet of lawn as her freshly minted, profoundly reluctant stepbrother. "if that girl plays helena with any more vocal fry, i am going to march up there, confiscate her script, and show her what a projection actually sounds like," dante lowered his sunglasses with one manicured finger, his gaze sliding up matteo’s frame with the calculated assessment of a seasoned judge. "and it would probably be the only genuine entertainment we’ve had all afternoon. though, frankly, i think the real tragedy is the costuming. linen? in this humidity? it’s a hate crime against literature."
