I personally think that Troy is the worst movie ever and I will stand by that. As someone who loves The Iliad, I cannot in good conscience recommend ever watching it. The timeline made it look like the Trojan war was a week long, and the acting was subpar at best. The casting of Brad Pitt as Achilles was questionable, and his acting skills were severely lacking. The plot of this movie barely resembled the Iliad, and it was thoroughly unpleasant to watch.
Here is my list of all of the inaccuracies I noticed:
-In the movie, the sons of Atreus both die during the war, whereas in the actual epic cycle, they survive the war.
-The movie has a distinct lack of Diomedes.
-General shitty timeline.
-Patroclus is stabbed in the wrong way.
-Paris lives? WTF? Why???
-Almost everything surrounding Briseis.
-The entire first part of the movie is nonsense.
-They made Patroclus younger than Achilles, but in Iliad canon, he is older than Achilles.
-They made Achilles a macho heterosexual.
