Troy Jackson Replaces Graham Platner in Maine Senate Race
Maine Democrats have selected former state Senate President Troy Jackson as their new candidate for the U.S. Senate following Graham Platner’s withdrawal.
Jackson, a fifth-generation logger and longtime advocate for workers and rural communities, will now challenge Republican Senator Susan Collins in the November 2026 election.
The sudden candidate change gives Democrats limited time to unite the party, raise funds and introduce Jackson to voters across the state. Republicans are expected to portray him as too progressive, while Jackson will likely focus on healthcare costs, workers’ rights and economic support for Maine families.
