Joy Sahmet; lady of the ring and seeker of happiness.
Another TRP Beats character I’ve been meaning to work on, on my quest to improve my work I’ve let my comic projects slip by the wayside. So I figured they deserve some ettention until thigns get movin’ again.
Joy Sahmet is like anyone else in a lot of respects, she wants to be happy, as much as possible and as often as possible. Where she differs however is that happiness isnt so straightforward with her.
Due to a unique defect in her brain, her physical and mental response to normally painful stimuli is happiness. That isnt to say shes a masochist or a sadist, she doesent feel enjoyment from pain. Think of it like this:
Trigger -> Pain -> Pleasure
Now this isnt in some seedy way, the purest of happiness is what she feels from that stimuli that others avoid and where else would you find pain in sizeable amounts in a safe healthy environment? The ring, of course.
Now, onto that doohickey on her brow, that is her Pain Afflicting System. This baby is grafted directly into her skull, in a place that would cause the most pain and discomfort under normal circumstances. She doesent like using it because the best happiness isnt artificially created, but if she needs a pick-me-up or an edge in battle, this device sends a piercing sound and vibrations into her skull, cringeworthy yes, but oh so effective and enjoyable for her.
