This is where Drake is reciting Lilith’s favorite part of her favorite book (Jane Eyre) right before he proposes.
“One more thing.” Drake reached into the picnic basket and pulled out a book, passing it to her. “I want you to read to me.”
Her mouth dropped open as she thumbed through the pages. “Jane Eyre.. you brought my favorite book too?” She smiled at him, “you really want me to read to you? Won’t you get bored?”
“Of course I won’t get bored. ” Drake handed Lilith her reading glasses from her purse and she lay her head in his lap getting settled in. Lilith opened to page one but Drake gently took the book from her. “But.. to make this more interesting, I’m going to open to a random page and I want you to read that part.”
Lilith chuckled, “ok then.”
He flipped through the pages trying to make it seem unplanned and placed the book back into her hands. She looked up at him from his lap and his heart swelled. Her bright copper locks cascaded across his legs, and her rosy lips held a smile that she only reserved for him. There wasn’t a doubt in his mind that this was his person. She was everything. His whole world, his life.
Lilith adjusted her glasses and grinned, “You just happened to flip to my favorite part of my favorite book?”
Drake shrugged cheekily and Lilith began reading aloud. “I hied me to the window-recess. And while I sat there and looked out on the still trees and dim lawn, to a sweet air was sung in mellow tones the following strain:—The truest love that ever heart Felt at its kindled core, Did through each vein, in quickened start, The tide of being pour.”
Drake’s deep voice cut in and Lilith froze as she heard him recite the next lines, not even glancing at the book.
“Her coming was my hope each day, Her parting was my pain;
The chance that did her steps delay Was ice in every vein.”
Lilith sat up quickly and threw her hand over her mouth, but shock quickly melted away into wonder as she watched him continue reciting the words by heart.
Y'all... if you have never had the chance to interact with @bayleedrawsx, you are seriously missing out on one of the sweetest members of our fandom. She is so friggin supportive, so kind and thoughtful.
I am completely humbled right now. She just surprised me some BEAUTIFUL artwork based off of my story Boughs & Mockingbirds, and I am so giddy with how perfect they are!
Thank you so much for thinking of me and my characters! Fandom friends: go check my sister out! She does several different types of art--what you see above, chibi, comic strip. She can even make you a gif! Do it now!
**I have attached some of her other work from this series below.
