Why Double Brokering Is Dangerous
Most people outside the transportation industry have never heard of double brokering, but it has become a serious problem.
A shipment gets assigned to one company, then quietly reposted or reassigned to another carrier without authorization. That means the company actually hauling the load may not have been vetted properly at all.
Some warning signs:
Extremely low pricing
Sudden carrier changes
Unverified dispatchers
Conflicting paperwork
Poor communication
As fraud becomes more sophisticated, proper carrier verification is becoming one of the most important parts of logistics.
