Oops...
Soooo, we broke down on our way home from Florida (we're towing our camper). Hopefully getting the truck engine fixed and back on the road! I just want to go home and see my fur babies all sleeping on top of me in my own bed.
[Driver] "Yeah Boss told me to put a safety notice in because he put his foot through the floor of the truck. Turns out there's just a little piece of plastic covering the hole."
[Me] "How do our trucks pass inspection?"
[Part-time driver] "One of the trucks can't go over 50 mph."
Just venting.
I have this old rusty truck I was trying to sell. Then my sister coming home from Australia asked if she could use it. Being I havent been able to get it in for a fix I brought it in to check. (I can do the work, I just can't recongize the problems well.)
The cost to fix the brake problem conpletely by them is gonna be more costly than the truck is even worth!! I just wanted to get rid of it. And my dad keeps saying "oh savr it for your sibs. Your brother will need a vehicle soon."
Then buy the vehicle from me dad. I'm not in a place to even be able to drop that kind of money.
So for now... Do I junk it? Or try to get them to do the bare minimum fixes that I am not skilled enough (or improper tools) to do...

SOLD!
I now have $500 burning a hole in my pocket and the truck is gone. Or at least it will be as soon as the buyer comes back with his wife or son to help pick it up and drive it home.
Either way, he has the title and keys, I have the cash. The sale is done.
Though, I will continue to worry for a little while that when he gets back here and starts to drive it home, there will be a massive problem and he’ll come complain about it. I did state in the ad that the truck was “As is, no warranty,” but that doesn’t always mean much in the grand scheme of things.
I did get him to fill out a bill of sale for me, so I can file it with the state and prove that the truck is no longer mine; which helps out a bit and lets me finally take that truck off of the insurance before the 30 days of free coverage they gave me expires..
I do hate to see it go, but I couldn’t keep it forever.
Farewell my old mechanical friend.
Very Quick Update
In just the past hour, I have already received several responses to my craigslist ad.
Though, only one person has actually taken the time to ask questions about it. Everyone else is basically the same “call me so I can buy your truck” message.
That one guy is currently the front-runner for who I’m considering selling to, if he still wants it after reading my responses to his questions.
If you’re too aggressive or insistent, then I’m most likely not even going to take the time to respond; no matter how badly I may need to sell my truck. I’d rather wait a couple days to find a few quality inquiries mixed into the pile of responses, rather than just sell to the first person that comes along.
Your pushiness makes me wonder about how legitimate of a buyer you really are. I’d prefer to not get robbed.
I finally listed the old truck for sale on craigslist.
I had been planning to take a slightly easier route and just sell it to one of those pick and pull places, but every quote I get for that truck is only around $50.
I’ve invested a hell of a lot more than that in just parts within the past year!
I have it listed for only $500, which is still very cheap for that truck, but I do need to sell it quickly (for at least a little more than the tiny bit of pocket change the scrapyards are offering) and get it off the insurance soon. Hopefully someone buys it, even with all of it’s issues and quirks.
I still hate to get rid of something that has been a huge part of my existence for almost half of my life, but it must be done. I can’t afford to just keep that hanging around for sentimental value. Plus, my apartment complex will most likely get very pissed if I keep taking up an extra parking space with it.
