SINCE MY YUGIOH SHITPOST IS BLOWING UP TODAY, I JUST WANT TO USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHAME ALL TRUE DRACO PLAYERS. YOU ARE BAD PEOPLE.
Da'at Metatron, the True Dracomechsoldier ———————————————— Requires 3 monster and/or Continuous Spell/Trap Card Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). Unaffected by the effects of cards with the same card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap) as the cards Tributed for the Tribute Summon of this card. If this Tribute Summoned card is destroyed by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect): You can Special Summon 1 EARTH, WATER, FIRE, or WIND Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Maximum Crisis (MACR-JP025)
True Draco is an archetype which focuses on Tribute Summons. However, instead of just relying in summoning tools to gather materials, their members are allowed to use Continuous Spells and Traps. Is a quite odd yet interesting mechanic to work with, specially with the obvious support provided by this sort of cards. Sharing their setups along the True Kings, the build can easily bring out powerful monsters with not many difficulties.
"Da'at Metatron, the True Dracomechsoldier" is one of the boss monsters from these two archetypes working together, and can become very difficult to take down due its abilities. "Da'at Metatron" can only be Normal Summoned by using three tributes, which like the rest of True Dracos can be either Monsters as well Continuous Spells and Traps. In return "Da'at Metatron" will gain protection against any effects from cards sharing the same Type as the tribtues used, therefore with the right setup can become nearly impossible to take down. But even if the True Draco is defeated its not over, as then "Da'at Metatron" will replace itself with a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz monster from one of the four elemental Attributes. So in resume, under the right management "Da'at Metatron" can become one of the toughest monsters to defeat with its protective abilities and high stats, but even if has a weakness it can easily bring out a powerful creature from the Extra Deck without any effort needed.
Out of all True Dracos, "Da'at Metatron" is the most expensive of the bunch as requires three tributes for its arrival. Fortunately the archetype has a big number of searching tools to obtain "Da'at Metatron" in our hand, going from other members such as "Majesty Maiden, the True Dracomage" and "Mariamune, the True Dracophoenix", to the effects from "Dragonic Diagram" and "Ethereal Wyrmterfall". When comes to gathering materials shouldn't be difficult, not only due the usual summoning methods to do so but also Continuous Spells and Traps from the archetype giving us additional Tribute Summons if we want to use True Dracos for each others' arrival. "Dynamite Knuckle, the True Dracofighter" in particular can be very helpful to gather materials, as his ability allow us to activate Continuous Traps straight from the Deck. To make things even easier, Traps like "Revival of the True King" and "Call of the Haunted" will revive a monster so both of them can be used for the Tribute Summon. Keep on mind that "Da'at Metatron" might have a Normal Summon restriction but is not limited when it comes to Special Summons, becoming easily available by many effects including "True King Bahrastos, the Fathomer" or "Draius III, the True Dracoknight".
"Da'at Metatron" can take different directions depending of how is brought to the field. Depending of which cards we used for the Normal Summon, "Da'at Metatron" can go from an annoyance to a threat which can only be taken down in battle. But we don't even have to worry much about which effects can and cannot avoid, as in case is defeated we will be able to replace it with a big number of monsters from the Extra Deck. Some good choices include "Majestic Star Dragon" temporal yet powerful pressence, "The Last Warrior from Another Planet" shutting down all summons as long is on the field, "Naturia Exterio" and "Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon" negation effects, or Xyz Monsters like "CXyz Coach Lord Ultimatrainer" and "CXyz Skypalace Babylon" with abilities not reliant of materials attached. Therefore, while "Da'at Metatron" can become big annoyance with its protective effect, taking it down can lead us to summon an even stronger monster to face the opponent with.
"Da'at Metraton, the True Dracomechsoldier" is that kind of boss monster which is more menacing at its weakest position. While is not that difficult to gather the required materials for the right effect protection, the possibility to summon powerful Extra Deck monsters without any effort needed will force opponents to go arround it. Unfortunately, while "Da'at Metatron" has a big potential to dominate Duels, its a very expensive summon regardless and might be preferable to work arround other archetype members like the True Kings or "Mariamune, the True Dracophoenix". However, with the possibility to summon any Extra Deck monster as long is possible, "Da'at Metraton" deserves a spot in the archetype for on the least a single copy to work with.
Personal Rating: A-
+ Can be Tribute Summoned using Continuous Spells and Traps + Gains protection against effects from the type of cards used for its summon + Summons a monster from the Extra Deck when destroyed
- Expensive summon - Might be preferable to focus on other True Dracos and True Kings
