If you’ve watched or are planning to watch True Haunting on Netflix, I wanted to expand on the history of the Torture Tree a little because the way the history is explained in the show was real sus

they mention how Thomas Boyd was tortured by Native Americans after being on a mission to “relocate” them (or something along those lines)

so I looked it up, and they were tortured because they were committing genocide against the Seneca, according to Exploring Genesee Valley

The Seneca helped the British raid early American settlements as part of the Revolutionary War. According to the Livingston County Historian’s Office, General George Washington assigned General John Sullivan to lead a military campaign of 5,000 soldiers to annihilate Seneca villages and farms, known later as the infamous Sullivan Expedition. The Seneca and many historians consider the Sullivan Expedition to be genocide.

In 1779, Gen. Sullivan assigned Lieutenant Thomas Boyd to locate Little Beard’s Town. Boyd assembled 23 soldiers, including Sergeant Michael Parker, as a scouting party. Between what is now Conesus and Leicester, the scouts exchanged gunfire with Seneca warriors. One Seneca warrior died in the skirmish. Scouts saw more warriors and pursued them, but were outnumbered and surrounded.

The Seneca killed at least 15 American scouts while eight escaped. The Seneca captured Boyd and Parker and took them to Little Beard’s Town, where they then tortured and executed the two men in response to the Sullivan Expedition.

is anyone else watching true haunting on netflix. because first of all I think the two guys are in love (the haunted guy and the photographer guy) and second of all they decided to name the demon tommy for some reason.

The fact that it's January 1st, and True Haunting supposedly comes out on the 6th... no trailers or anything have been released. Conclusion: confused
