You know how I made that True Imposters LightningBug edit? Yeah. That’s not canon anymore.

Surge’s new endgame love interest in the AU?

This girl. Female Jackal Squad member. Tempest/Trois.

She takes the role of the Avatar in Surge Forces, before later returning in IDW, and I realized they have much more potential to develop organically than Surge and Jewel. Considering they save the world together and Tempest helps Surge overcome the horrors she saw in those 6 months. But I can see it outside the AU too.

Think about it. Surge’s life was destroyed by Sonic. Tempest’s family was “destroyed” by Shadow. I just imagine them forming the “Fuck You, Hedgehogs” club and kissing in the lightning-charred ruins of downtown Central City while electrical explosions go off behind them.

Also... tall butch and short butch. Especially in TI, where Surge discards her platform shoes and ponytail. She is short.

Heyo! I don't know if you said in a previous post, but what exactly is your true imposter au about? It sounds very cool and I'm very interested :D

Basically, it's an AU where Surge and Kit replace Sonic and Tails from the beginning of canon. HOWEVER, they are still working for, and given their powers by Starline, who is a former understudy of Eggman, as part of his years-long master plan. It's basically Operation Remaster from canon, except he made them to manipulate a prophecy about Sonic and Tails saving the world, who Knuckles believes and Tikal eventually confirms Surge and Kit are not.

Naturally, canon diverges in places, until eventually during SA2 they find out the truth, seemingly stop Starline once and for all and become real heroes from then on out, either getting adopted by Vanilla or finding Surge's real family.

Then IDW rolls around and Starline returns, along with the Metal Virus which Surge and Kit are immune to, resulting in lots of angst. Starline is a loose cannon for that arc, taking pride in Surge and Kit's shock and grief, until he finally decides to stop trolling and come up with another plan. After that, Imposter Syndrome has Starline reveal he had Sonic and Tails in cold storage, and is basically getting them to be his minions by screaming "IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE YOU!" down their throats.

I also have ideas for a Boom and movie version of the AU, the former of course being the home of the crackship that is slowly consuming me: Surge x Sticks.

There is love, angst and drama.

Yes, I did just edit it from Surge’s model sheet. Yes, it’s heavily based on multiple images from her concept art. Yes, she looks like Sans. And yes, I have realized just how short she is without her ponytail.

TRUE IMPOSTERS UPDATE FOR THOSE NOT ON DISCORD:

I would like you to know that I made a major change since I last talked about the AU on Tumblr.

I’ve given the AU a designated ending point, after the Sonic and Tails arc and its aftermath.

First of all, Starline takes over as main villain in IDW. Realized he has NO reason to bring Eggman back - he blew his chance with him long ago. So Eggman gets to stay Mr. Tinker. But he gets a character arc where he has to balance out his memories.

So Starline commands the Metal Virus (being Starline, he refined it to not mutate and stay loyal to him) for its arc, and doesn’t bring in the Deadly Six. Instead, Surge and friends storm the Faceship (Starline hand-picked zomboticized friends to guard him) and wrestle the Chaos Emeralds directly from his hands. Power Surge and Super Silver cure the virus, but as a consequence, Surge and Kit also lose the Metal Virus in their bodies, so they can’t heal anymore.

After that, Starline goes with the Sonic and Tails plot.

The AU has an ending because after - logical spoilers - Starline dies, the only real villain left is Sonic, and because future arcs wouldn’t make much sense, he gets a redemption speedrun.

The AU’s ending is very happy, I’ll leave it at that.
