As far as pointless parties went, this was perhaps his favorite of the lot -- which didn’t say much but it meant he was less vocal about his distaste for it. The time of year itself was enough to lessen his usual sour mood. This year, he had an additional thing to thank for that. He’d been spending more time with Atropa since that awfully uncomfortable day had ended in her being hospitalized. They had been appointed to work on the decorations together and Severus now found himself casting spells he hadn’t used in far too long, charms that would lighten up moods and add movement to their decorations. He flicked his gaze to where she was working on the other side of the room, “what do those have to do with our theme?” he wondered, looking at the bright colored decorations she was about to put up.
