LORCAN: Wh-what k-kind of g-girl trouble?
Lorcan felt extremely uncomfortable about this conversation, especially since the last girl Jesse had trouble with was Rowena. It had been months and they had never really spoken about it, Jesse had discussed his feelings with Rowena and also accepted that she was with Lorcan. Why had he chosen him to talk to? What could Lorcan possibly do or say to help him with his girl problems?
JESSE: Well, the truth is that I’ve kinda been a loner most of my life, as you know, and I’ve never really...um...had a girlfriend!
LORCAN: Okay, well...*clears throat* that’s not a problem you know neither has Devan, he’s more of a meet once and never meet again kinda guy! *laughs nervously*
JESSE: No, Lorcan you’re...this is so embarrassing!
LORCAN: Jesse, we’re family, okay? Differences aside, we’re cousins and we should have each other’s backs! I know you’ve never really liked me but I was hoping that now we’re adults, we could start again? Whatever I did to you in the past to make you hate me...I’m sorry!
JESSE: Lorcan, you didn’t do anything! Apart from being near perfect, you haven’t done anything, this is my problem not yours. It’s my jealousy that...*sigh* look I didn’t come here for this, I need your help!
LORCAN: And you’ve got it buddy! Always!
JESSE: Her name is Haven, Pearson. We went to school together and she hung around with my bullies. She wasn’t exactly a bully but...she didn’t exactly stop them from tormenting me. And now she tells me that she’s always liked me and...well...she kissed me, twice!
LORCAN: Okay, so I take it you’re not feeling it? Or...
JESSE: Well I wasn’t, but we talked for ages and she enlightened me on a few things about the past that...well I started to see her differently. The second kiss, it was...well it was nice!
LORCAN: So, what’s the problem bud?
JESSE: She represents my teenage trauma, I can’t seem to get past that! I reacted badly to her confessing she was into me but then I ended up having...um...s-sex with her in my dad’s shed! It was kind of hot and...well she’s been calling me ever since and I...I’m ghosting her! *groans*
LORCAN: I see.
LORCAN: So what exactly do you want from me? I mean, do you want me to give you advice on how to date her or let her down gently?
JESSE: Well that’s the thing, I’m not sure! It was my first...y’know! *blush*
LORCAN: Y-your-oh-oh! Right! *clears throat* Do you like her Jesse? Trauma aside, do you have feelings for her? I mean...you did...the deed, so?
JESSE: I...think so!
LORCAN: Then go for it! You’re 26 years old Jesse, giving it a go and it not working out really isn’t a big deal. I’m a true believer in things that are meant to happen happening. Like me and Rowena. You’ve got nothing to lose, go on one date and see how you feel!

Lorcan and Jesse stood in awkward silence for a good few minutes, Lorcan waited patiently until Jesse was ready but he was aware of the fact that he needed to get back and relieve Rowena of Emrys duty. Jesse rubbed his neck nervously and let out a few small breaths before he finally began to speak.
JESSE: See here’s the thing...
JESSE: ...I’m kind of...having girl trouble?
LORCAN: *blush* Oh, right!

A couple of days after Clayton Boudreaux had requested Lorcan and Rowena’s assistance, Lorcan decided to clue in his brothers on what was being discussed. He was surprised to see his cousin Jesse visiting from Sulani. He seemed overly subdued as the family talked about the plan to take down Arturo Boudreaux once and for all. Aiden, Devan and Finn weren’t too keen on going up against such a powerful and influential vampire who was responsible for the deaths of many witches, shifters and other supernatural communities.
LORCAN: I mean we’re not talking right this minute, not next week or even next month. This is going to be a long road! I’m a few steps away from reaching master level in my spellcasting so...
DEVAN: I dunno Lorc, we’re just shifters bro! You’ve got an advantage over us, I mean...all we can do is get on all fours and run!
FINN: I’m almost 18, I kinda wanna live to see my birthday!
AIDEN: We’re going to need training Lorcan! Uncle Vance, grandpa...and I hate to say this but...dad!
LORCAN: I hear what you’re saying but...dad? Really? I get Uncle V with his hunter experience and grandpa for basic spells you guys can do, but what the fuck can dad teach you that you don’t already know?
DEVAN: He’s a shifter Lorc, he’s got tricks. He left before any of us could learn!
LORCAN: *sigh* You’re awfully quiet over there Jesse, what do you think?
JESSE: What? Oh, yeah I’m on board with whatever.
LORCAN: Dude you haven’t been listening have you? You do understand how important this whole plan of action is, yeah? You that never shut up about your Aunt being murdered by a bloodsucker! Now’s your chance to get revenge on Arturo Boudreaux for everything! Jesse? Are you listening? What the fuck is the matter with you?
JESSE: Sorry Lorcan I...I came over to um...to talk to you about something. Can we go somewhere private?
Lorcan was taken aback by his younger cousin’s request, he never expected Jesse to want anything from him. If he had something on his mind, Lorcan thought he would go to Aiden or Devan before he would ever go to him. He agreed however, and they headed over to the study next door.

HAVEN: So what was that?
JESSE: I...dunno I’ve...never done that before!
HAVEN: Pfft, yeah right!
JESSE: It’s the truth, I was waiting for the right girl. I thought Rowena might...but then she was with Lorcan so...
HAVEN: Don’t play with me Jesse! There’s no way that was your first time, it was...too good!
JESSE: Now you’re the one teasing me...again!
HAVEN: Oh Jesse I’m always honest after sex, in fact it’s the only time you’ll get the whole truth out of me so make it count!
JESSE: Okay then, is this all just a game or do you really like me?
HAVEN: No game, I’ve adored you since the day I walked through those doors at the high school and saw you scraping shaving foam out of your locker!
JESSE: So this isn’t a set-up? This is real?
HAVEN: It’s real Jesse, it’s very real!
JESSE: I...think we should get dressed now, you should go find your dad!
HAVEN: You-really? Jesse...
JESSE: I think it’s best we forget about this, don’t you?
HAVEN: *sniffle* Oh, if that’s...what you want...
JESSE: Yeah, let’s not make a big deal of this! Right?
HAVEN: But it is a big d...*sigh* okay Jesse I-I’ll get going then.
Jesse was overwhelmed by everything that had happened that afternoon. Losing his virginity wasn’t what he had in mind, and losing it to Haven Pearson of all people! He would be lying if he said he didn’t like her, or that he didn’t enjoy being with her, he just still couldn’t trust her after all these years...and that was a problem! Seeing how sad she was that he’d dismissed her made him feel bad, but his awkwardness trumped that feeling and he just needed her to go away so that he could think.
JESSE: Cool, see ya around.

Jesse’s head was swirling, his feelings were jumbled, Haven was changing within his mind and he was so utterly confused. Spending the best part of the afternoon with her had altered his perception, maybe it was the kissing, or the heart to heart they had...maybe both...
...turning around and marching straight back towards her, Jesse had no idea what he was going to do next, all he knew was that she had managed to invade his thoughts until all there was up there in his head was her. And his heart? He didn’t even want to go there, he felt so overwhelmed...
HAVEN: Jesse? What...
What indeed?

HAVEN: Jesse I’m trying to tell you! It was the other way around! You had all the power over them! Eric dated the same girl all through high school because no one else would have him, and Dante? He wanted me and never got me, I was yours but you couldn’t see it! Because all the girls swooned, drooled and fawned over you, neither Eric nor Dante could get a girlfriend! That’s why they were so mean, and that’s why they bullied you!
JESSE: Why didn’t you tell me all that months ago?
HAVEN: Because I never realised how much their behaviour affected you until we met up again. You were so angry with me I couldn’t get a word in, then every other time I’ve tried to talk to you, this attitude, you won’t even look at me!
Jesse sat for a long time taking in what Haven had told him. All of it was news to him after years of feeling like the freak. Now Haven was telling him that he was the school heartthrob and everyone loved him, that was why he was bullied by Eric and Dante!
JESSE: Listen Haven, I’m gonna go inside and...just be alone, okay?
HAVEN: No, Jesse, wait...I...WAIT!
As Jesse stood up, Haven grabbed hold of him and spun him around...
This was the second time that she had kissed him today, this one even more shocking than the first. Jesse didn’t know what to do, his feelings were all over the place...
...he found himself actually enjoying her kiss, it gave him pleasurable shivers.
JESSE: No, Haven? No!
HAVEN: Wha-why? I...but you...kissed me back! You kissed me back Jesse!
JESSE: I can’t do this, not with you! Not after everything! I can’t just flip a switch and...all of a sudden be okay with you!

JESSE: I know you technically didn’t do anything, but that’s the whole point! You didn’t do anything, you let them torment me while supposedly having feelings for me! How am I supposed to forgive that?
